Wildwood Int'l Kite Festival '09

Recommended Posts

Great Time. Can't believe it's over, and that I won't have that *giant* beach to play on. While I have plenty of beaches here at home, I have plenty of crowds. I won't be able to fly as much, except at off hours :-( .

Any case, thanks to all the volunteers and Beatrix for making this all possible. I had the best time hanging, flying, watching all those huge kites (and yes, WOW is properly named). Great memories ("he's gonna get lucky tonight ..."), mega-fly, mega-tangles and just mega-laughs.

Hugs to all!

This weekend was great fun. Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to some of you, but I had to leave early Monday morning. It was a lot of fun team flying with everybody and seeing how much everybody has improved since the last time I flew with everyone. After flying 2 days on my vented 1.5, I realized that I'd like to get a vented pro....I gotta save up for that one though. Thanks for a great time everybody!

Wow, what a fun event! Thanks to all who made it possible. This was my first festival as a participant, having gotten the Rev bug after stumbling on the IQuad group at last year's festival. Special thanks to Scotty W. and Jay N. for all the help with the herding cats. With their help, I was hanging in teams of 12, 15, 18 (grid-style), and 24 (line style). And to think that a week ago it was scary enough to fly in a group of 4! I especially enjoyed being a part of the double ball burst (which was a crowd-pleaser from the boardwalk according to Mel). I was also glad that I then exited just in time to avoid the mega nest-of-snakes possibly resulting from too many kites with too little wind.

Scott and Jay were very patient helping me achieve one of my goals for the event; developing skills and confidence for team flying. One other goal was achieved with everyone's help; meeting great people and enjoying their company for great fun. An unintended achievement was learning (by the end) how much and where to apply sunscreen. Unfortunately, since this was my first summer kiting event, some burning occurred before I learned that the back of the legs and knees, and lips need help despite the hat and normal sunscreen use.

Barb & I shot many photos and videos, but now that I must return to the real world it will take some time to get them together for posting. Please be patient as I want to share a good number of them, including Ang & Brad running the bols, the mega flys and the mega knot, Alden & Paul dual-line Reving, Ben grooving, and all the beautiful kites.

Hello all--

Yes, indeed, it was a great time. The weather was great and the winds were "suuweeeeeeeeet"! Scott and Jay did an amazing job leading team flying and megaflys all weekend... thanks! There were tons of extra special moments, too. The pink rev-off that Alden made for Ant totally rocks.... one of my favorite colors, too!!!!. Great job Alden!

The Rev Games rocked!!!!!!! ... Thanks Jeff, for a job well done. I especially loved meeting new kite friends. Dominic, how cool to meet you and Jess and fly with you both... you both are GREAT pilots; can't wait to fly with you guys, again.

Great memories... including my first competition. I lost by a 1/3 of a point, but that doesn't matter. Now I know I can do it and, more importantly, I had a blast doing it!!!!

Chris, I didn't have any way to get on line this weekend, but I have many photos of the weekend; including one from when I was smack, dab in the middle of a really cool, big ass web of lines from an 8 or 9 kite WIPEOUT!! This, you all have to see!!!!

I hope to get some photos up tonight!

Beatrix and Roger, thanks for putting on this event, it was a great time for all. Next year, hopefully, you'll give us Rev Pilots the field for the entire weekend... it's big entertainment for all....as I know the people "oooooohed and aaaaaahed way out on the boardwalk; even by the Convention Center!!!!

As Steve said, "When we all doing this again folks"??

Barbara & I had another spectacular time at Wildwood last weekend. Seeing old friends and just bumping into folks you didn't know a moment before. I heard a few complaints but I thought I'd died and go to heaven. Perfect conditions for me, . . . absolutely perfect!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the photos too, we certainly put-on a grand show, didn't we?

HI Jim-

How's everything? I wish you would have been there... we got our space back after a little @#$%*, so it wound up being great!!! That kite flys amazingly well. It's sort of like a super, super ultra light, yet it's a mid vent...can't figure it out, but it is sweet!!!

Purple is my color (in case you didn't know, Alden ;)B) ).... and yes, it's a hint....why not, it's so sweet!
