Flying my Barresi at sunset in Malaysia

I do both :P . Could be why I don't have a wife! I can tell your wife that a good driver can cost over $500.00. (Ooooo masterpiece time) When that runs out a new set of irons is around $1,500.00 Putter $150.00. When that runs out you have hybrids, wedges, balls, bag, etc. I could go on but when it is all done. It's time to upgrade, or something new comes out.Sounds familiar doesn't it.

I went the sneaky way and encouraged my wife to join the team. Now she flies rev team too and we have more revs than I know what to do with!

The only down side, she is as good as me now and that is hard on the old ego

Pairs/Team Rev flying is a good way to spend some quality time with the significant other. You're outside and have time to talk or just be cose to each other.

I don't think I am alone in this, how many other Rev "couples" are out there?

No chance my wife will want to fly kites, it is way too hot in Malaysia with an average temperature of 30 to 33 degrees Celcius, man you can get sun burn and skin cancer if you do not use sun tan or extra protection.

Surprisingly, I know only 2 women kite fliers here so far, we need to recruit more of this specie, they tend to shy away from sunlight most of the time.

What sort of temperatre or weather like over your end when flying your kites ??

Cheers,

chris

Me and my lady Shannon fly together sometimes, and she'll pop off and fly off by herself every now and then... Always good to see, she understands what I'm doing and what I feel when I fly. ;)

Matter of fact, she's the proud new owner of a purple fade B-Series... Just picked it up, bringing it home to her on Monday night.

(love you baby)

I envy you all guys where your wife flies along, here with our kind of weather unless you want to get grill, there is no way women willing to fly kites but if you mention shopping, they are ever willing to go, now you know why we do not have women fliers, lol.

Well, I'll start the list. Mark & Jeanette Lummas.

Mark and Jeanette, you probably don't realize it, but you're the reason that I'm into Rev's. I saw you at the Carolina Kitefest in October 2002 (my first kitefest) where you flew together with the Shania Twain routine. I was totally amazed that you could do that with a kite. I also enjoyed the other Bay Area Sundowners with their Rev's, but it was you two that totally had me enthralled.

Thanks...

Doug

Wow, with that kind of temperature and wind speed, I can spend all day flying.

Went out yesterday to fly but due to a bad weather, heavy thunderstorm and lighning, had to force myself to go back home, and enjoyed a mug of coffee and my wife's homemade cheese cake, can't complained too much, lol.

I totally understand this now I have the vented B!

Before I'd be "kite weight" for the larger power kites, or help with the lines/set up etc but not actually get what all your guys feel when you are flying.

Standing around getting cold watching your significant other having fun, is no fun because you don't even understand it at this point.

It is all crystal clear now the feeling you get, the buzz of learning each new thing when you do fly.

Waiting eagerly for my Purple vented B to arrive so we can fly with equal kites :)

Thanks again JB for making this possible for me to achieve too.

Chris> will try and get some sunset pics one day, but I seem to be flying more now than taking pictures.

The only shopping I enjoy doing is for kites ;)

Never mind Chris, at least you have your pals to fly with.

Yes. luckily I have pals who are willingly go flying with me over the weekend whether in a hot sunny day so long there is winds, we will be there.

Choccy, can't blame you not taking any pictures coz we just do not have time to shoot unless I ask my friends to take for us.

At times, when we go out over weekend at beach resort with our buddies, we only have a heavy breakfast and no lunch, just flying and drink lots of water till our dinner at 8pm.

Flying at sunset is quite beautiful. Next, I will try to shoot of my Barresi with our Petronas Twin Towers in the background.

Wow, that is a fantastic sunset picture, love the colour and the kites flying in flaming red in the background. Good picture.

Anyone out there, please keep sending pictures of sunset flying.

I created a new main page for my web site that has a beautiful sunset picture I took a few weeks ago.

It is at: http://johnnmitchell.load4.net/

May I ask John, will you be able to include the simple instructions that you wrote for flying a rev? When I was very first beginning I came across one edition on the web, talking about practicing simply going up and down till you were perfect and the basics of the handles, which was very helpful to a beginner. It appeared to be part of a series, but I never managed to find the others. And by the time I realised you had written them, time had moved on.

I can't help but think that others would find them really useful, if you still had them somewhere or had the ability to re-create them.

You must be referring to the articles I wrote for the German Magazine "Drachen Magazin" back in the mid 90s. I think there were 9 or 10 articles dedicated to various areas of the Revolution kite. Somewhere, I do have the English version. I must do a search.

I do hope you can find them. I know we live in a world of multimedia and split screen video. And these things are great, and a good learning tool. But some older generation types like me like to read, visualise, read again, try and then return to the reading. Its just the way we were taught to learn.

This was the article that I found:
