AdventureAng
A BIG thanks goes out to Rawveeda for the highest donation so far. Thanks a million man, I know Ant really appreciates it. I can't wait 'till the whole Jersey crew can get together again :-)
Baloo
you guys and girls are the best ...TRUELY THE BEST!!!!! im in awe right now just got off the phone with ang .. she is the best lady in the kiting world for getting this going for me .. for her to take the time to help me get my mid vent back i owe her big .. thank you all who donated you have no idea what this means to me to have so many great friends im in tears right now knowing that i have the support of such a great family in a time of need.. all of you know if you need me for anything dont be afraid to call or drop a e mail to me.. i love you all and your the best thing to happen to me in all my years of kiting!!john b and this forum have made this possable for me .. i have been able to link up with the best group of kiters in life..its because of people like you all that the world of kiting has a big heart and is truely the best sport their is.. MANY THANKS AGAIN FROM THE LAURIELLO FAMILY.. Ant I think the amount of support you are getting is a direct relationship with the amount of support you offer so many folks. I know you have halped me out on no end of occasions with sensible answers to some of my maybe not so sensible questions. This all just go's to proove the saying "what go's around comes around" so often used to describe something bad happening. In this case the opposite. I think you are truly getting what you deserve. It matters not if you are rich or poor or sort of in between. To loose something special to you hurts. To have it replaced in the way it is happening hopefully tames the hurt and replaces it with joy.
cerfvoliste
IMHO sounds like Ant Screwed up to me. Situational Awarness is a must in all walks of life. We have to pay for our actions. you should go after the guy for breaking the law and letting his dog off his leash. But I don't think any of us should pay for you not tending your kite. KiteLife
I fully agree with situational awareness, as most of you well know... IMHO, the responsibility is ultimately shared by both Ant and the dog owner. But, we're just looking at a matter of kindness in this instance, after the fact... Truly, great support shown for a friend, by friends. Certainly, I'd guess a person would be more aware in the future, having an experience like this behind them. This is a lesson learned by all; unfortunately a very expensive lesson. So, if we can make it hurt a little less, that's what family is for. Lesson learned. Aerochic
FWIW Rx, Ant has not asked anyone to replace his lost Rev. He merely posted to commiserate a bad experience and communicate the loss of his kite to community of folk who understand that pain. No one is going to dispute kiting responsibilities certainly, but many folks here appreciate what a huge help he is to others in the kiting world and merely want to give back... much like you helping the fellow who lost his race rods. RAWVEEDA
The funny thing about this thread is that it started with Ant telling us what happened. (venting so to speak) He had no idea that it would turn into this. Kind of like a karma surprise. Ant has always taken the time to help anyone asking for help. OK even when we were not asking. A bunch of us have made new friends through Ants actions & light hearted stupidity. This is just our way of saying Thank you & we can't wait to fly the new kite and beat him with SLEs for making a poor decision. @rx "As you know I help buy Race Rods for a fellow kiter that had his kite randomly run over by a crazy driver due to no fault of his own." This is pretty much the same thing.
KiteLife
To keep this on topic, and because I'm very curious... Do we have any word on whether Ant's replacement will be another mid-vent, with the iQuad emblazoned panels? What a collector's piece, would be shame to write that one off completely. ramakristan
Hi all, I think Ant did the right thing and not knowing the return he gets for we all kiters all over the world share the same common interest, the fun of flying kites and not frgetting the love of our Revolution that changed our life in so many ways. Ant was right to show his frustration so that others will learn and benefit from our past mistakes, we make better friends among ourselves, helping out when there are questions and so on. I am very glad things might turn out better after Wildwoods, thanks to Ang, Wind of Change and others who donated to help a fellow friend, well done guys and all members of this forum deserve a pat on their back. I am happy everything might turn out good. Cheers boys. chris
Aerochic
Do we have any word on whether Ant's replacement will be another mid-vent, with the iQuad emblazoned panels? I know that Ant would like to have the kite restored to it's former beauty if possible. No official word on what exactly is being done tho. Theresa
I didn't realize it was a custom sail till now but no prob...I just got off the phone with Ben and it looks very promising, I wont go into phone details but we're still willing to offer the same deal. We will match dollar for dollar raised on getting the kite replaced. Ang, as soon as you get done working out the details with Ben and Revolution, just let me know and we'll do whatever we can to make this happen. We'll get you back in the air soon Ant my friend! Ah yes, a Custom Mid Vent! So sad Anthony! So if a kite only B retails for $250, plus the $50 for Custom, that puts it at $300.00. Kent, let me know if you need some more kicked in the kitty. I'll contribute the rest. Theresa
Baloo
All I can say is wOw, I know Ant did not ask for this, however what a demonstration of the Family of Rev. Quite a number of donations from Forum members. Help from 2 retailers. And from Rev itself. You show me pretty much ANY other community where this would happen? All I can say is wOw. WAY TO GO FOLKS. antman
as i read these posts i feel better and better knowing their are tone of people that have my back on this one.. i did post this story to vent how frustrated i was to lose this kite .. i do hope it can be matched or if not a cooler version with some way to have i quad panels on it as well and the midvent .. that kite was so great to fly .. like nothing i ever had before!!! the big suprize was that this turned into a donation for me to get what i lost .. in the future i will be more aware to where i fly and never let this happen again.. i cant wait to see what rev is brewing up at their plant .. another 1 of a kind mid vent ???or something that noone has everseen before!!!as creative as the team gets you never know.. as i said before this is everybody,s kite.. so when we meet up feel free to take the handles.. thats what family is for.. again i say you all are truely the best and thank you all again.. i have half of the old kite that i want everybody to sign .. what do you all think of that.. once all the signatures are there i will hang it in my shop to remember forever the great people in my kiting life!! wufer
antman. Or, as an alternative, you could get it all signed up, frame it with a proper glass fronted frame (like a photo frame), and have a plaque or something, explaining what happened, and donate it to "REV HQ", to be hung in reseption for everybody to see. ( with REV,s approval that is). Just think; antman,s kite, right in the heart of the REV empire. Sounds good hu. I,m sure between Rev and yourself, you can come up with something. Please dont think i,m butting in, its just an idea. Derek.
AdventureAng
Thank you once again to everybody who contributed to Antman's fund to get a replacement kite. I have now closed all donations (so please don't send me any more money unless you just feel like sending some extra cash my way for a kite of my own....haha). You are all such wonderful people and I thank you all very much. Ant's new kite is in the works and is actually going to be a surprise to all of us so we'll be sure to post pictures of it when it comes in. Remember, Ant said that we all get to fly it, so I think that means a mega fly should be in the works soon. That'll be fun. Oh, and I guess I better get ready for all those stickers that are going to be slapped on me (gently I hope). THANKS EVERYBODY!!!
AldenMiller
Woooohoooo! Way to go Angie (and all the supporters)! The bad thing is now I have to wait almost a year to think about applying those stickers. Hmmm, maybe that's not so bad after all! -Alden
