Felix
Yup. Any other questions I have are minor and can be worked out on the field very quickly. Thanks Mike. I will go and fly it this weekend to figure out the 180 turns rather than trying to do it on paper. Felix
Felix
as you know I'm game but dont think I'm quite ready yet, will be going to both events so whatever you want me to do be ok by me.Cant make this week Blackheath, 13th Brighton but could give it a miss. 20th Dunstable what ones you going too Felix I didn't realise that there was a 'very large' walking/running/charity event on Blackheath today. I turned around and went back to Victoria Park where the breeze was thermal. Did get to try the 1.5B (not vented) and was very impressed with the 'ability' of the kite to respond to smooth 'long arm' input to control forward speed and stopping. The stretched, 10 year old sails that I am used to do not have the same precision in the 1.5 or the 1! The fighter kite analogy gathers strength so maybe we should be looking to the US version of line touch competition for the single line fighters for a Rev equivalent. The same kite (ultralight spars not Race Rods) was used by an absolute beginner who achieved forward take off, face down landing and re-positioning the kite face up in about 1/2 an hour, as and when there was a consistent breeze. giuseppe
Giuseppe,What is your arrival time? Do we need to keep the bar open? Felix We fly from Biarritz (France) to Bristol in EasyJet 6134 flight. Depart time is 15:15 and arrival (hopefully) is at 16:05. It's not too late to open the bar, isn't it? giuseppe
Call For Fliers. Please could fliers attending the events let me know if they would be available to take part in a 36 person team. Given that there are 36 fliers recorded as being present at both events this would appear to be a realistic target. The plan would be for a short carefully prepared performance. Please could you let me know if I should e-mail the team leaders in order to get this message through to the individual fliers in the teams. Thanks Felix Well, the Team Bolau is ready to go! The five of us are counting the days left for the Bristol event (but we still want to spend a looong summer holydays before, as someone already mentioned ) Excuse me for these late answers, but some of us are on holidays (not my case now) and these modernities (such as www) are not easily available...... Felix
Thanks for the answers.Looking forward to seeing you all soon for some concentrated Rev flying. Best wishes Felix Now for some fun... Say we give all the fliers taking part in the Team 36 a number between 1 and 36 specifically not taking account of their location on the grid. Then we call 1 - 36 in sequence 180 degree turn, on the spot - call it and watch them turn in an apparently random fashion - but potentially very quickly... Everyone does the turn and we proceed <grins> Thoughts? Thanks Felix
giuseppe
Nice visual effect for sure. And what about secuential movements like: every body face up, then face right one by one in turn from left to right and upper to lower kites, just like that game where you put a lot of pieces standing up in the floor and then push the very first which makes all the rest push the next one. Each kite "pushes" the next one quickly to turn in 90 degrees steps until 360, then fold back. The matrix: kite1 . . . . k6 k7 . . . . k12 k13 . . . . k18 ...... The secuence: k1 . . . . k6 k12 k11 . . . k7 k13 k14 . . . k18 k24 ........ Well, just an idea JL

Hezz
I like Guiseppe's idea... Rev dominoes!! Sounds fun ... top row face left, next row face right, etc. Top left kite does 90 degree clockwise turn, (as holding upright is 'easiest'), next kite along then does the same .. person on end does a 360 degree 'travel and step down' to topple all the way over to the next row down... setting off sequence of row below, etc. Then reverse it Oooh we could have so much fun here... P.S. While searching for a relevant link I found this... Hezz

Hezz
We could have a superstar 'push the first domino(/Rev)' in this case .. Katie Melua the golden, diamond encrusted one. No, the domino, silly. This is better than Eurovision! Hezz

P.S. While searching for a relevant link I found this... Hezz Hezz, you understood the idea quite well. Domino was the word (I wouldn't have needed +100 words to explain the domino concept if i'd considered to get up and look for in my dictionary how "domino" is said in english. Thanks a lot for the help ) Yes, I think I get what you are suggesting. There are possibilities of calling 'diagonals' 'lines' 'columns' and so on.I liked the idea of an apparently random call... Felix Felix, I like the idea of random movements. It could be the first figure that "aligns" all the kites in the same direction prior to start a domino movement, diagonals & so on., which, in turn, could introduce the main routine you are working on. Imagine all the trembling kites, just after the take off, forming the matrix "hover-as-you-please", being disciplined by the "random" calls before the coordinated movements take place...... These movements could be considered as a side salad for the main course routine. And for the ones who love the film, the whole thing could end in a simmilar way as it started: random calls that make each kite to dive quickly to the ground, like the green falling letters of The Matrix......... ha ha ha .... please forgive me, I'm too metaphoric tonight.......... david ellison
location grid references sound like a great idea creating domino wave effects from opposite corners, sliding individual lines, radar moves for the outer rows/columns odds 180 clockwise evens slow 360 anti/counter prime numbers only... 23 rules.... Hezz
We don't need Pi to make a circle, but we might need it to make a Potato Alternatively we leave the Pi for dessert (apple please) Hezz
