sailor99
All the evidence would suggest she may have been married to Henry VIII. Certainly it would explain the hair and the abscent body.

kiteslinger
Glenn also knitting needles make great shafts and come in a assortment in size and color
Jeepster
...notice the shaft material, & are they soooo light... Glenn, Oh, that hurts so much to see Rev shafts stuck in the dirt ... I work so hard to keep that from happening. I've tried the knitting needles that Kiteslinger suggests ... some are good, but you have to select carefully. The larger ones are hollow and not as strong as needed for repetitively piercing terra firma. I ordered some Nano stakes from REI since I like the smaller stakes that you can stick in your pocket ... they're hollow, light weight, nice bright blue color and tuff as nails. I was so proud of my discovery until Backdraft pointed out that the Easton Company was simply using their arrow shaft making equipment to manufacture tent stakes. After some investigation that included cutting and measuring, I reached the same conclusion. The stakes are made from a size 2018 arrow shaft and from Easton 7075 (XX75) material. So, hit up your hunting buddies for some discarded aluminum arrow shafts ... 2117s are the most common. The cleanest stake is made from the nock end of the arrow ... however, by using inserts you can also use the rest of the shaft to make additional stakes. Choccy
Not sure how folks have made these ground stakes which have made it into my collection I particularly love the purple stake shaft, it matches my purple handles, gloves, boots, scarf..... Jeepster
Not sure how folks have made these ground stakes which have made it into my collection I particularly love the purple stake shaft, it matches my purple handles, gloves, boots, scarf..... Choccy, Suspect they used a knitting needle ... there are a multitude of sizes and color choices with knitting needles. The Papa Smurf stake used a small diameter red needle to match his size and the color of his pants ... both the stake figure and the full size Papa Smurf's pants. They work great if you're careful in your selection ... I've got a small blue one that's been used all summer. The advantage of the arrow shaft is that they're very strong for their weight ... they are also very cheap if you have hunting friends ... the disadvantage is that the camo pattern on most of them probably doesn't go well with a guillotined Barbie. However, a camo arrow shaft on a GI Joe ... hmmm. Cheers, Tom

Your first reference is to a slightly larger nano stake like I used. Cut the head off the stake and you have the nock end of an arrow shaft. I've attached a picture of the evolution I went through. 1) The first item is the standard stainless steel, golf ball stake. 2) The second item is a small billiard ball - ~$4 a set on ebay - with the nano stake as a shaft 3) The third item is the nano stake from REI 4) The last item is the nock end of one of my arrow shafts ... Easton 2020 GameGetter in this case. The advantage of the smaller stakes is that they are much lighter than the traditional stainless steel variety. They easily fit in your pocket ... don't need a stake holster hanging off your belt. Some of you remember the 1960s and the engineering students with their slide rules hanging off their belts ... yes? Couldn't bring myself to do that then and can't bring myself to wear a stake holster today. Cheers, Tom
