A photo would be cool so that we can see into your world a bit. Here's my little sandbox: If you look close, on the photo to the right, at about 12 o'clock, is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, with the New York skyline off to the right, slightly. It is rarely cold and rains even more rarely. The REVs in the foreground, they aren't mine. They are Big Ben's. Mine are still packed in the red bag behind Big Ben's REVs. Jonesey Posted June 12, 2008 Report Share Posted June 12, 2008 Hill head is my closest site (about 2 Miles away from Home /Office) and is great in any wind with a bit of South in .... good thermal breeze in summer (?) means breeze starts off light in morning and builds all day .... Big tide range (tide is high in the picture) means a nice sandy-ish beach at low tide with pools for Kite swimming... Stokes Bay is a bigger site about 4 miles further East ... more room and better if the breeze has any Northerly component ... (right Play365?). Groz flying: Choccy's first flight with a 100 foot tail was so much fun: Thought I'd put in some none rev pics for a change. We mostly fly revs here though. There is a stable farm to the right beyond this photo, but I love it when the horses are out on that ridge when I'm flying. It has 2 soccer fields and 2 baseball diamonds. What's nice is that if one is being used, you can go fly at the other. I think this place is called Berks Recreational Facility or somesuch, there are no signs for the place. It's often mentioned in my photos in the gallery, the famous "Watership Down/ white hill" A short stroll along the path further along and you can look down on Andrew Lloyd Webber's estate (associated with Phantom of the opera). I fly near my residence on one of 26 soccer fields, Soccerplex of Germantown Maryland the best field has a brick bathhouse & an electric outlet to power to portable sound! The first Sunday of every month our kite club meets on the grounds of the Washington Monument, across the street from the White House. My hotel overlooks the bay and right outside my room is an area of grass which leads down to the sea. No trees to speak of and just a lift ride and 200m walk away. No wind at the moment, however the fleet I am waiting for does not arrive till tomorrow evening so I have most of the day free tomorrow. And a front is due to go through about 0400 tonight with about 20knots of wind followed by 10-15 knots. And the direction should be northerly which means it should be blowing off shore all tomorrow. One false move and it's wrapped up in a real mess in those bushes and driftwood but so far, no wipe-outs. The Mid-Vent inspires confidence to do that sort of thing. It's forgiving without being mushy and quick without being skittish, not to mention an incredible wind range. Hats off to Ben and the Rev crew for making it happen! The wind out of the west is toughest there as the beach slopes down a lot. I guess if I fly on shorter lines, 50' or less, roughly, the slope wouldn't be an issue. Any other direction, it's all good . Would you like me to put a photo of your home turf, well sand , Ant, or do you want to post your "pride" yourself? I'll be flying Liberty State Park, soon (only 40 minutes away, I should have flown here already :confused!: )... I imagine I'll be humbled to fly with Lady Liberty as a backdrop. (I'm very proud of our great and beautiful country; what can I say? ) Having an outlet for tunes is a huge bonus.
