Wish to walk before I can fly

Thanks to kitelife iQuad and Co for performing a great routine, with the movie files showing both the hand & body movements with split screen showing the actual flying:

Search on youtube for: "kitelife" and "Victoria remix".

It has probably been mentioned before on this forum.

I mention it here because during this sequence it shows the hand movements for the "walk" etc

You get to hear the calls, which some of us will have to get used to if we consider having a go at team flying or attend a Rev Clinic.

More movie files like this please would be fabulous help.

Awesome ;)

I assume you have found the Iquad site itself.

Yes, I found the site, thanks.

(shame a lot of the movie files do not work via JB's personal site).

I was really gobsmacked by "Dancing of the lines" - how did they make the kite walk down the wall?

Can you imagine iQuad flying their Revs up the Spinnaker Tower at Portsmouth ?

Fun but they'd be arrested :blue_sad:

Could always go and try it out, only a hop and skip down the Road from the Portsmouth Festival.

If you get the chace to go up it the views are neat.

And standing on thet glass floor!!! wOw.

There was a Baby crawling round on it when I was there. Adults were too scared to go one it.

Took my ultra slim self OK though.

My nephew and I both lay down for a little rest on the glass floor - well weird!

There is a bit of a plaza area at the bottom of the tower that could be good for short line street kiting. What's the worst that could happen - "Excuse me gentlemen, move on please". "Yes officer".................

You carry on I'll be in the bar ..lol

which bar specifically Gary?

we'll owe you a Leffe by then

still trying the walk before I can fly bit, but the grass is up to our knees in places now it is summertime!

That's when it has been mowed, challanging

Trying to fly with the longer 120 foot lines is an art in itself: keeps getting caught on the long grass seed heads :pinch:

I have total empathy for SteveB flying amongst the thistles.

PS The Spinnaker tower was on the local lunctime news, and the external lift still hasn't been fixed!

We had a sheep interested in our hover which was cute but there was an amazing moment when we were swooping backwards and forwards together and a silver glistening streak of a gaggle of geese (?) in V formation flew overhead between the kites.

Obviously they were miles away. So no animals were harmed in our flying.

It was one of those awesome moments never to be repeated.

Choccy,

Last week I went to a new site to fly. Wind direction has to be from the east for this spot to work, as there is a row of trees just to the west of the field. As soon as I launched, a swallow came out of the trees and started following the kite(purple). It would chase the kite over to one side of the wind window and when I turned it would race to the other side just ahead of the kite. Never tried to attack, just wanted to fly about five feet or so from the kite. After about ten minutes, I landed the kite and the bird flew over and landed on a nearby post. As soon as I relaunched, it took off and resumed it's adventure with the kite.

After about ten more minutes a hawk flew down the tree line and the swallow joined it's mates in driving off the hawk. After that, the swallow stayed away. Like you said 'one of those awesome monents" ... at least to me. Probably just the berries ... after all they've ripened recently. Probably tipped a few too many. Funny what folks birds will do after one too many.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Cheers,

Tom

Well we are agreed on the first then. And tois and I sort numera 2 and 3.

I believe it is traditional in the UK for an American to buy round 4. ;)

Yes I'm happy to get the first round... (some people are always late so first round should be the cheapest!)

Funny that ppl who have at least close to the average Rev investment yakin about being cheap. :ani_whistling: Specially if your like me and realize that after round say 3 to 15 your probably going to be yakin about flyin and will come up with some new and crazy thing to tangle your lines a time or two. But in the end it'll work and WOW even yourselves. :kid_smartass:

Dean :ani_punk:

Would buy a round but I'm sure FedEx would spill it on the way. Or drink it.
