Groz - why didn't the 55 that flew on Saturday count?

I believe the kites need to fly at least part of a routine, and in syncronisation. Neither of those appeared to happen from where I was standing....

interesting - depends upon how 'part of a routine' is interpreted - they flew to a series of calls; how many calls constitute a 'part of a routine'?

Whatever the decision, those taking part yesterday had to work very hard in erratic and dying wind

I would think at least one! Don't think we even got that far....

We were debating this tonight... My thought was that all kites should stay aloft for a minimum of 3 or 5 minutes, with at least 3 recognizable team maneuvers (i.e. Burst, Thread, Kiss, Switch-Place, shapes, words, etc).

A fair amount of time, and an easily attainable standard.

Nic

Hi Nic, finally home after a long drive...

Thanks for the pictures. It was good to meet you up on the Downs !!

Sorry I didnt get to speak more than I did at the Festival, always too much going on. Huge thanks to Avril for organising the festival.

Great to meet some new "family" from Holland & Spain. Cant wait for a normal festival to chill out and jam with these guys & Ladies.

For me the best part was just watching Joe Hadzicki flying off to one side and passing his love of the kite to anyone that passed by.

Happy Birthday to The Decs hope you enjoyed the party !!! Happy Birthday Revolution - Its been a pleasure.

Simon.

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Bristol Kite Festival this weekend - the Rev mega team was the highlight of the weekend! We know the weather didn't co-operate the whole time, and really appreaciate all the hard work everyone put in to give us such a fantastic display! I was standing in the crowd during Sunday's last mega-team, and the people around me were totally astounded. One guy told his friend "I think this is the coolest thing I've ever seen" and a little girl said to her mother, "it's like fireworks in slow motion!". So from me and Avril (and Holly, Andy and Dom) - thank you!! (And a special thanks to Felix and Stephen for putting it all together!) :):)

On last thing, we have an experiemental section on the Festival website (www.kite-festival.org.uk/community) where we grab data from places like Flickr and the blogosphere which have been tagged with 'bristolkitefestival'. So if you have any photos on those sites, use that tag and they should appear (think there are some up already).

Hope everyone gets/is home safely - and we look forward to seeing you again sometime soon!

Warmest regards,

Lynn x

The issue on Saturday 'may' have been, in part, that Paul and Corey could not see that the fliers were ready to go and so carried on talking rather than letting Stephen call the moves. (They were seeing it from the side and it looked 'like a dog's dinner')

The Tokyo Bay event will be going for 60 by all accounts and so if they take 'on board' John's observations, as above, that could be a significant achievement.

They did not do the grid configuration last year but many of them were primed at Uchinada and so may have been making preparations in the meantime.

I have to figure out if I can get there (Tokyo Bay) somehow!

Thanks Felix for starting the thread.

BRIAN

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the events and 'the thread' and look forward to other events/discussions regarding Mega Team Flying.

(Now I have to write up my notes over the last year and the last two weekends as well!)

['It was twenty years ago today' as Corey said at breakfast today!]

Best wishes

Felix

21st Birthday is still the big one

So Next year!!!!!!!

Now we all know our downfall's practice practice

think of all the new rev flyers we will have after these two great weekends.

John (Barresi),

Is it possible for you to extract this thread in a sensible form so that I can set about using the points of reference to summarise the process.

Thanks

Felix

OK just finished sorting the pix from Sunday, here ya go:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8393...p;id=1204823362

Some nice close ups in there... "how many lines?!?"

Will try and get around to Saturday's pics soon - I am still in a hotel and not home until Thursday, and the wireless access here is patchy...

:blue-sleepy: time now

enjoy

Congratulations on another great weekend/event. It looked like a great two weeks. Well done.

It would be great if the "entire Rev Family" could meet somewhere in the U.S. -perhaps the East Coast and really rock the world record. Not to mention that it would be great to meet and greet and put a face/personality to everyone :kid_content: .

Already looking ahead to see what next year has to offer.

Warm regards...

If Tokyo Bay does now take up the Grid Team Format (as I am sure they will) then I think that the next big event should be in the USA.

I started a thread '2009 International Event' hoping for ideas!

Thank you for everything and has been a pleasure to see again and meet with some others.

The emotions have been very strong for me.

Each day is more exciting to fly the revo, and if people like you even more, where we will stay.

Tonet.

Thank you.
