Felix
Hi Scott,I have added your name to the lists. The usual disclaimers apply...! I will load the updated list in the next day or so. Felix I have now uploaded the latest version of the list. Thanks Felix
KiteLife
Thanks for the update Felix, a couple of notes for accuracy's sake... "Desperado" should be Despojado. Steve de Rooy's (iQuad) first language is American, second is Dutch. "Hadziki" should be Hadzicki. PS, will be good to see the Decs in Japan... We'll rock the house, for sure! giuseppe
I wish.....but probably not. Marla keeps asking me to get it on my calendar! I keep looking at the calendar, and it's already full. Need more weekend dates!!!Closest I will get will be taking John to the airport and back. I will be there in spirit with the boys. T Sorry to hear that Theresa. We thought that we could meet you there so you would've able to know the team in person! Well,.... it's not too late, isn't it? Best wishes from Team Bolau. Hi John, Thanks for the corrections. I have amended the file and will upload it in a couple of days time 'probably'. I am hoping that we will see further information from the festival organisers soon. I would also like to ask again if the prospective participants could identify images and profiles that could be used in fund raising/publicity efforts. I do not know how this will pan out but it would be good if everyone had material prepared. Thanks Felix PS It looks as if I will be at Uchinada but I doubt that others from the team will be there as well! FJM
Felix
That is turning into some list Felix. Hi, It is quite interesting. I really do hope that everyone who has expressed interest will be able to attend. I also hope to find the original document where I suggested a grid of 10 x 10 fliers! Best wishes Felix
Simon
Cant wait to see the America's flyers again (That means Canada too) I cant wait to see how the sea side flyers get to handle out Bristol Wind :-) Point of all this was, ground crew - do we have a set of standard signals? So when it does go wrong, and it will with 50 plus kites in the air ;-) ie, Hand up, I need help, point left move kite left, point right kite right. hands pushing towards ground = kill kite so it wont accidently launch any others we should get? or what about radios? - just for the ground crew? KiteLife
I don't think there are a lot of layers to ground crew planning... I'd recommend a pre-flight meeting between ground crew and team captains before the fly.
sailor99
As a "salt of the earth stewardess" (aka ground crew) I would agree with John that a pre-meet would be appropriate. Trying to coordinate any more than the basics amongst a geographically disparate group IMHO would lead to more confusion than benefit - KISS Having said that, a bit of guidance about what areas the ground crew will need to cover off would probably be helpful Felix. Just in general terms, so that we know what we have let ourselves in for.
Simon
I agree with KISS, but just so we are aware and its been consdered. Also, some language barries will exist...

Simon
And what about those locals say... Tar ra a bit, me old lover... Some people will post anything to get there number of posts up. Baloo
Keep at it Simon, only about another 175 posts and you will be there. Course if you want to be a Quad Head, that takes a bit longer. You have to think of even more silly posts.

Course if you want to be a Quad Head, that takes a bit longer. You have to think of even more silly posts. OK I'll bid for a 'silly post'. I just located a Fax message to J. Hadzicki dated 3rd August 1993 suggesting 20 Rev fliers forming a rectangle on the ground. (Five fliers on each side?) This followed on from drawings envisaging 16 fliers in a grid and how they might 'walk into' the formation. I might just scan the pages and put them somewhere accessible! John, I'll just have to obscure some of the text before I post the images. Probably not today. I have not found the 10 x 10 proposal which suggests it was only ever 'in my imagination'. I also found some very good illustrations of moves which were probably drawn by Andy Preston. I will check with him in due course. This is potentially material for Drachen Foundation as they are probably from 1993 as well. You would all recognise the moves. <grins> Felix
Stone in Shoe Bob
Some people will post anything to get there number of posts up. I want to be a Guru just like you. You’ll be lucky, there are several other current and past UK champions thinking the same thing, I think you may just live on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Felix
Talking of silly posts, it gets worse... I just realised that I have a Kite Society (of GB) badge for Dieppe 1988 as (hand) made by J Barker. It was in the box with the papers un-earthed earlier! I have to note that many of the faxes on thermal paper are getting to the point of being 'un-readable'. Should I spend time copying them to stable media? Take care the bright light and heat of the photo copier may turn them totally black.
Simon
Take care the bright light and heat of the photo copier may turn them totally black. i would guess that there is not enought heat in a photcopier or scanner to make a fax black. BTW, Stone - didn't understand the post about Stephen and guru and ex UK champions???
