Choccy
Ok so I am wishing to introduce a little character to my Rev (cute factor x1000) I have tried to make the kite walk across the ground, but 'he' kept getting stuck: maybe due to the long grass/mud and up hill slope(?). He kind of moved forward but not very smoothly. Any tips regarding handle movements, etc greatly appreciated.
KiteLife
The best way I can describe the walk, is like using little tiny launches to lift each wing up and towards you, one at a time. In long grass, you'll need to hop each wing up a little higher on each step. Lift wing - one top line back Set wing - relax stepping hand to apply tension on the bottom line Lift wing - other top line back Set wing - relax stepping hand to apply tension on the bottom line *repeat* *repeat* *repeat* Remember, it's a tight little tug to launch that wing... No pansy pulls.
sailor99
Just to add to what John said, remember to walk backwards at the same time ;) Also, it is kinda like a circular motion with the hands. Think 70's disco dancing hand movements with the hands circling up towards the shoulders during the pull bit, then relaxing and falling down and forwards. If you can wall, talk, circle the hands, and chew gum at the same time then you are really multi-tasking.

I had trouble with this one until very recently, I saw it demonstrated (split screen) on an old video and it struck me how closely the hand movements trace the movement you want from the kite. It' a much smother motion than I had been using as Sailor says "Think 70's Disco".
sailor99
"Think 70's Disco". I also find "the walk" easier if you wear flair trousers and a cheese cloth shirt. J

Baloo
WOW, FANtastic. My Wife thinks I am a loon when we get into the "do you remember" bit at parties and stuff. Good to hear someone else had one. I dont actually dispute I am a bit of a loon, however not about something as serious as a Johnny 7 gun. At least I am fairly certian I know how old you are now Gary, I promise not to tell

sailor99
Nope, dont remember Crackerjak or Bill and Ben, Woodentops, Clangers, Fireball XL5, Watch with Mother, Black and white Telly or any of that stuff You forgot "Hugh, Pew, Barny McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub". And I remembered the dance it was I was trying to think of - Doin' the locamotion. And here is the "fabulous Kylie" doing her re-mix of the original, complete with the original hand motions once or twice. watch out for "You got'a swing your hands now" if you want to know how to make your kite "Do the locomotion". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EevbQoXzGgA...feature=related

Choccy
Here you are .... That is pure evil! I thought this might have been a cute thread, hey ho
sailor99
Unfortunately "pure evil" is exactly what us little boys were in the 70's - a shame, but true. And yes, I am afraid we did like playing with guns. Not sure if times have changed too much TBH - there still seem to be too many boys, big boys now they are grown up, around the world who like waving guns around in the name of "good". Anyway, at least you now know you have to strut your funky disco queen stuff to make your kite do the locomotion! It won't be just a kite man - it'll be a kite scene, far out & groovy man. Kite power Yeh!

We’re talking 60’s here, early 60’s at that. My guess Wuffer’s photo, Christmas 1964.
sailor99
That's it exactly Bob! Perfect movements and everything, although I remembered it as having alternative hands, rather than pulling both at once. Still, you have to admit Kylie is better eye candy. As to Christmas '64 afraid all I remember of that one is that I did a particularly wiffy nappy and was given a rubber duck as a pressie. Baloo
Thanks Wufer, I am sure we had wallpaper just like that too. And the picture on top of the telly?? Had a picture a bi like that of my Parents Wedding, Dad in his Grenadier Guards uniforn. And Gary well what can I say, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I have just had to call my Wife to see the picture. Now she believs me. I am hopefully flying tomorrow, going to take "The Locamotion" to play to myself. Get that Rev walking if it kills me. (Not actually going to go as far as the killing bit but you all understand) Best not take the Kylie vid as it might distract me.
Choccy
Well I took Bluey out for a walk tonight... more sort of a stroll: gonna have to work on my "pansy pulls" locomotion stylee! Still he is becoming quite a character, lots of "wiffling" fluttering movements were achieved. tres cute fun P.S. Not bad for a one week old
