Felix
<snip> - Keep the shoulders relaxed and hands down <snip> Dave Dave , That should be a great starting point in my book. Figuring out how to do this in a 20mph breeze has been slightly problematical but doable in my view... Best wishes Felix
KiteLife
How could you fly any other way in 20mph? Letting the weight of your arms set the grade, loading your upper body weight and setting your stance right... Critical, for sure. The same technique works fine for me in the 40-60mph range as well. JoneZ
Well? Nails in the coffin now guys. My clutch is blowing out on me.... Looking at an $800 repair at least, so I won't be making it to the clinic any way ya slice it. I will however be eating beans and rice for the next 6 months. lol I still have to get it down the hill to an auto shop, but a clutch replacement is estimated at at least $800 (called around to many different shops), and by the feel of the clutch now, Im mostly sure thats what Im lookin at. Only good thing about this is that we own the jeep, so I suppose if something goes wrong every couple years that costs us $800 or so, its better than making $3-400 payments on a car every single month. Theres always a bright side (no matter how dim it is).
KiteLife
Sorry Jon. We'll just have to do a Portland clinic this year, and you can ride up with Dean.
JoneZ
hehe, that would be a great idea. Perhaps I could help organize it with y'all. I got the Jeep diagnosed today, and the Clutch Master cylinder is nerfed (so far). Im glad its not the clutch assembly itself, but there still might be some more issues once they crack open the transfer case. So far we're at $300. lol She's gettin fixed, no matter what. Love my Jeep.
dean750
Yea, I'll drive. It's been a while since I've gone on a road trip with a ticket watcher outter. I mean some one to help me out with the brakes. (even though as hard as the passenger trys, they're brakes don't help alot) I mean navigator. Company anyway. Just let me know. Maybe you'll be able to make this clinic after all. Dean
Cameron
Please put me down for two spots: Cameron Altenhof-Long Erin Altenhof-Long My daughter Erin has only flown a couple of times so I'd put her at "Square 1". I'd guess I'm somewhere between novice and intermediate as I've never had any formal training or flown with anyone else. Things I'm interested are: Clockwork turns (in place) Bicycle rotations (in place) Slides (up/down/left/right) Basic team maneuvers Really looking forward to learning from "the masters" and getting a chance to fly with a group! We'd also be very interested in a Portland clinic if you're starting a separate list Edited January 7, 2010 by Major Hostility
KiteLife
Great news Cameron, added you to the list. Portland clinic... Often ends up being a light wind clinic. I'll start a poll for demand/timing sometime soon.
KiteLife
FYI, when I do the sign up link, there'll be a drop down menu to select your general self-assessed skill level or focus area based on the information in this topic... http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3635-progression-and-difficulty-levels/ By no means will you be locked into one thing or another, but we will be dividing classes accordingly to make the best use of everyone's time and teach as effectively as possible. Again, it's flexible and we're not looking for that info now... Just something to think about up until I open up registration.

Morrunya
Well, I finished talking with my father, and he says for me to plan on attending. We have a few details to sort out, but it is officially on my calendar, and I look forward to seeing you all.
HedgeWarden
John, Put me down as attendee - as much as I can promise this far in advance. Skill - intermediate but with no experience flying with others. (Probably lots of bad habits by now. ) More tentative will be my wife, Sunny. She would be beginner. Still scared of a quad, but a reasonable dual line flier. If we can get some smooth winds between now and then, I will have her in the air for a first-time experience. Theresa
Yippee! Get to go to the clinic after all! I just got a reservation at the Surfside condo (LB and OP has been booked up), a one bedroom on Friday night, then move to a 2 bedroom on Saturday night. On a waitlist to get the same unit type for 2 nights in a row so don't have to change rooms. Ocean Park is 13 miles north of LB. If Kay can lock in the indoor space at the OP elementary school for Saturday night, we'll be right up the road! Had to edited to say won't be able to be there afterall I hope someone takes lots of pictures and post some updates so I can see and read!!! I'll miss being there with the gang! KiteLife
Hi guys, back from KTAI in Nevada... Just catching up on everything now. Howard, I've got you and Sunny added to the tentative list, hope you can both make it. Planning to have a more detailed schedule and sign up links available in the next day or two.
KiteLife
Ah, thanks Howard... Just saw your self-classification... We've got a "skill set" list here: http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3635-progression-and-difficulty-levels/ Everyone else who is on the tentative list, could you let me know which group you're most interested in for this upcoming clinic? Naturally, you'll be able to change classes/groups as you wish based on the respective content, but there may be some scheduling overlap in order to make the best use of everyone's time, and to allow time for team portions (like the grid). markg
Hi John, I'm Mark If there is room at the clinic for another novice, I'd like to attend. The term "novice" overstates my skills however!! I've only flown 3 or 4 times!! Perhaps he who knows the least will learn the most!! Anyway, this clinic sounds like a great way to get started. KiteLife
Awesome Mark, we'd love to have you! The distance between novice and intermediate isn't typically very far, you'll be amazed at how quickly you progress in just 2 days, I'm sure.
