I prefer (IMHO) the curved logo, not sure of the age of my rev II (it is a gift 3rd hand).

It's solid sail in red with a blue/black logo in curvy style (date?)

This is completely different from the one in John's photo.

Is it that the LE is slightly curved like a 1.5 ????

Didn't the old Rev II have a curved Rev logo rather than this straight diminshing one?

Congratulations! You nailed it!

The REV II we found was apparently a proposed version for 1997. As far as I can determined it was never produced. We found another one in pink with the straight blue logo.

Revolution changed their logo at the start of 1997. You will see some REV 1.5's floating around that look identical except for the logo. With the old logo it was made in 1995 and 1996. With the new logo it was made in 1997. In 1998 the REV 1.5 changed to 3 panels on each side and was named the REV 1.5 SLE. The material changed from nylon to polyester. It also came standard with the new SLE rod. At the same time the REV 1.5 EXP came out, staying with nylon material, which looked similar to the previous 1.5 having two panels on each side however the logo section changed to a smaller design with EXP added in.

I could go on and on, on this. I will save it for another time.

The one you have probably looks like this, except for the colors:

Your REV II was made between 1990 and 1996. If it has plastic end caps it would have been after 1990, maybe 1991. I am not quite sure when the change was made from the old metal with rubber cap and D-clip to the simpler plastic cap.

The curvy logo was last used in 1996 production. The straight logo started in 1997. Going back further the curvy logo replaced the Neos Omega logo somewhere around the end of 1988 start of 1989. I asked the other day about this. They weren't so sure when it was but it was clear why they changed.

The REV II always had a very straight leading edge. Of course it will show a visible curve with more flexible rods.

I was trawling through some old photos today and came across this one. In the photo you will find pilots who now fly in 3 different teams in 3 different countries. All but one of the people in this shot currently fly in well known quad teams.

Can you name:

the current teams?

the teams at the time?

the names of the fliers

extra bonus points for naming the guy in the tasteful yellow top and trouser outfit!

I guess I should have put a disclaimer on this like they do the lottery. Family members of the people involved may not participate in this competition!

However, can you name the festival?

Ahh, now that's even got me thinking????

thought it was simple but thinking about it could be one of three

I think the 3rd guy is Simon, am I mistaken?

Hi John, yes thats me, with hair !!

and a bit of stubble going on...

Which makes me wonder where it was taken?

Also, I'll be intrested to find out what team I was in at the time, I wonder if Stephen can remember.

OK so we have Simon Dann with the long hair and the very 80's pink hair band :P Stephen Hoath far right with his mouth open as usual. Mr Yellow and Mr Blue and the dude in the white shades all flew in the same team. Two of them still do.

So some clues,

Mr Blue flies with a bizarre Irish/French accent.

Man with shades has recently been videod dancing with another man

Mr Yellow was a founder member of the team and shares a first name with a famous soccer star who plays for RC Barcelona now.

So who is the other flier in the black shorts and white shirt? Currently flies on the West Coast of the US and always enjoys himself more than he should.

So its Mr Yellow, Mr Potatoe Head, Mr White(Shades), Mr Pink(hairband) Nice Guy & Mr Blue

So the team is Reservoir Dogs

I recognize four of six and I know which 3 teams they are now and only one of the teams at the time of the photo.

I can't seem to recognize the guy in the yellow on the left or the the guy on the right in blue.

Left to Right physical placement in the picture not in the line of fliers:

- Mr Yellow, who knows? Kind of looks like a guy on the Dutch/German team

- Mark Lummas, formerly of Team Sky Dance, now with Too Much Fun and Pair Bi-Dance

- name forgotten, unknown who he flew with before, presently team captain for Flic if I recall correctly

- Simon Dann, damn good judge, no clue what team he was on at time, now with TFS

- Stehen Hoath, formerly of Sky Dance, now with TFS

- Mr. Blue I don't have a clue, probably flies with Flic today

John, as usual you are the man.

Mr Yellow is Thierry a founder member of team FLIC

Mr White is Philip Comble captain of the FLIC

Mr Blue is Ben Howard also FLIC, when last seen was living in Ireland.

Both Ben and Philip are one of the few fliers who I have seen successfuly call a Rev Mega team and would be one my list for a "Fantasy Flying Team"

The Festival is Portsmouth in the UK and the date, who knows, probably some time in '97 or '98

Ah! I thought you would keep us all guessing on Mr. Blue and Mr. Yellow!

However, there is still one question open. What teams were they flying on at the time of the photo?

  • 6 months later...
I never saw Ray flying a quad. However Ray does us one better and flies perfectly three dualies at the same time and is older then any of us.

Never saw him fly anything other than dualies but the image made me think of him because of the slight body size and hat.
