Rockaway, Oregon Beach Kite Festival

We can't join you at Rockaway, but it holds fond memories for us.

On Father's Day, June 16th, 2001, we were driving down the Oregon coast, and there was a fun fly going on at Rockaway. We walked out onto the beach and saw Bob Serack flying a stack of four Revs. That got our attention. After talking with Bob, he got out a Rev, set it up, and gave me a lesson. After some crashing and burning for an hour or so, we went on our way. After a couple of months of thinking about it, I bought my first Rev. I learned to fly, then Lynn bought herself a Rev, and learned to fly.

That stop at Rockaway changed our lives forever.

Hey.

Could this event be moved to the following weekend? :confused!:

Lynn and I are at Pismo Beach for the biggest, best, vintage travel trailer event on the west coast, going on this week. 243 of the neatest vintage travel trailers on the country.

You all have a great time. If Bob Serack shows up, Tell him it's all his fault. That's what I tell him every time we see him.

Thanks Bob.

Ah, what a nice place.

Historic for me as that's where I first dropped some big money on a pair of "real" kites. I bought a pair of TC Ultras at a time when the Can/US exchange on the dollar was skyhigh. A standard and an SUL (which, I still have!) The SUL got broken roughly 10 minutes later when I closed the trunk of my car, neatly clipping the tips off the kite. Robin Leora, who ran the store there at that time, then promptly fixed it up!
