Chicago Flying

you can fly at the fountain in grant park on short lines. Good people interaction!!!!!

Or for long lines hit the baseball fields in the park.

Touch base on the IKE forum and those guys can hook you up. They might even be able to come out and fly with you!

Alden -

When are you going to be in town? Depending on availability, there's a pretty fair chance someone from IKE will be able to fly with you. By the fountain is fun, but it can be a bit crowded. I've posted a club fly for the 6th over on the IKE forum, location TBD - maybe Northerly Island.

August 1st is when I'll have some time to play. I'll be getting in late morning.

It's a Monday so I'd be cutting into the beginning of the work week...

Don't know that I could get out and fly during the day, but maybe early evening. Do you care if I post a note & a link over on the IKE forums?

Wish I could come, but Monday isn't an option for me.

I haven't tried to fly in Grant Park, myself, seems it could be tough with the people around. We usually fly on Northerly Island, down by the Adler Planetarium.

Maybe I should just save the flying for WSIKF and get a chicago dog and go to a museum.

-Alden

I don't think they will let you fly a kite in a museum (unless the museum is in Long Beach)! :P

I say get a Chicago dog, and fly in Grant Park to warm up for WSIKF. How long are you in town? Maybe some members could meet up on another afternoon.

It depends on the Museum.

I have personally flown a "REV I SUL" inside the Deutsche Museum in Munich, Germany between fighter planes back in the mid nighties.

If I am not mistaking, Connor Doran flew "REV Indoor" recently inside the Smithsonian Museum in DC.

I wouldn't doubt that there have been more instances.

If you are in Chicago, and enjoyed the Deutsche Museum, you might want to try the Museum of Science and Industry. Very similar.

If the heat there is much like the heat here (over 100℉), you might want to get indoors for a bit.

Arrive Monday, leave Wednesday AM. Monday afternoon is the only free time.

Alden, I don't think I can make it due to work, but there is one IKE member who says he can make it. He's on the forum as makatakam (real name is Mark), and his phone number is in the second post in this thread on IKE here in case you want to contact him. If you plan to street fly by Buckingham fountain, use a short line set. There's not much room. One more note . . . Monday afternoon looks hot with little wind here, so . . . . as much as I hate saying this . . . you might want to get a Chicago dog and go to a museum.

Hi Alden, makatakam (mark) from Schaumburg. Was busy flying all weekend. Got registered on the rev site this morning. I don't know if you will get this in time, but I can join you to fly pretty much anywhere in the Chicago area. Phone me if you want, 847-340-0366. I'm still very lost as far as navigating this site goes, so a phone call could save us hours.
