Baloo
You are right about the weather. Lots of road closures due to flooding. Not TOOOO much of a problem though as I only have Land Rovers, no car to get stuck. That perspective thing surely plays tricks. Need a window in the weather to get some flying in. Dont mind if it starts to rain while I am flying, blowed if I will go out in the rain to fly.
harrier
Perhaps a DUKW will soon be handy around here, record rainfall for June. John I think you have most of it. We had been Kapping, Rob wanted to see if we could get some different shots from the Rev, some from while he was dragging a Revs LE tip across the seas surface can be seen in this short vid. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...80&hl=en-GB After that I changed cameras took the Olympus off and fitted a Pentax Optio, both cameras had automatic infra red triggering, this left me free to take shots and video from the shore. (guy on the right). At the point shown in the first pic Rob was flicking water forward with the kite, the bottom right bridle then snapped.... with around 250 grammes (10oz) clipped to the LE the rest might be obvious..... johnnmitchell
Mystery Photo No. 7 was really not very easy. Excellent Harrier! Now for Mystery Photo No. 8: What is specific to this REV that most likely no other REV has?
Morrunya
I'm not sure, but it desn't look like it has the LE venting. Also it has the bumble bee look to it, with four of the pre designed panals removed for venting.
Fraserx
Is this not the one with velcro-fixed vent covers - to try and accommodate all the different wind conditions in one kite? Fraser
johnnmitchell
Is this not the one with velcro-fixed vent covers - to try and accommodate all the different wind conditions in one kite?Fraser Almost exactly! You were really noticing what I wrote in the past. Actually there were only 3 removable panels. The middle two panels were fixed, no venting. Now it is time for someones else to submit a mystery REV photo.

johnnmitchell
It seems no one has found the next mystery photo yet, so during the meantime I will give you another easy one. Mystery Photo No. 9! There were 3 persons involved making this photo. The Photographer which is myself! The REVs Owner! The REVs flier! I ask that the latter two, to not reveal anything! What was happening in the photo concerning the REVs! In the background is a dual line being tricked by some one well known who is not in the picture. But this is not really helpful to the answer. harrier
Ooops I should have included this vid a bit sooner. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...56&hl=en-GB Unbelievably the sound track ( not audible) went some thing like this: Rob: I think we have been pushing our luck here (offshore fickle wind) we had better take your camera off before it gets wet. Me: Hang on a sec, I have just started with the video camera, and although I would prefer it did'nt but if it gets wet it gets wet. About 3 seconds later the bridle let go. Demonstrating some extraordinary skill Rob brought the kite and camera safely ashore while I had dropped the vid camera on its lanyard around my neck and was dashing around trying to get under the kite to try and catch it before it hit the ground, it had landed before I got anywhere near it. Back to Johns no. 9 .

johnnmitchell
A stacked pair of Randy Tom's being axeled? nckiter is correct!! It is a stacked pair of REVs being axeled! The location was Kite Party 5 at Huntington Beach, CA. The flier was John Barresi. The owner is, correct if if I am wrong, "A Wind of Change" in Las Vegas. I made the suggestion of the axel as I have axeled progressive trains in the past and knew John could do it.
awindofchange
Yup, those Tom's belong to me. Always loved Randy's work and had to get em. John actually axel'd them a couple times, pretty awesome. I'd love to get my hands on one of the original Nagal's if anyone knows of someone who is willing to give one up. Very nice picture John, thanks for sharing.

nckiter
Kent, I think Charly Whitaker has a Randy Tom Nagal on the Kite Life Classifieds site. $1,200. He also has a couple of Patrick Nagal lithographs he is including in the deal. Does not include shipping. Just checked the site, it is still listed. TGunn
He was born and raised in the USA and became famous first in the USA. The Rev flier on the unicycle is David Brittain. Born in Colorado, lived many years in Oregon. David and I used to fly together as Team Pacific Flyers, back in 1991-92. He and I placed 1st at the West Coast National event in Berkeley, California in Masters Pairs Ballet and 3rd in Masters Pairs Ballet at the 1991 AKA Convention. David also appeared the cover of the very last edition of Stunt Kite Quarterly (SKQ) Magazine. David moved to Switzerland in the mid 90's and lived with Bob Childs for awhile, then roamed around the Europe for next few years.

The photo was taken at Castiglione del Lago Italy in 1996. David was known to have lived in at least Belgium, France and Switzerland. I last ran across David at Castiglione del Lago in 1998. Last I heard he was living in Southern France.
