Although the guy doesn't really look like he just threw the Rev so my earlier guess is probably wrong. I have thrown REVs like a javeline quite a number of times and caught them falling, but never managed to bury a finger through the LE in either direction. I throw it with my left hand holding both handles and holding the LE at about 40% distance from the right tip, with my right hand shoving the right tip like an arrow. I have that same pink and blue Rev 1 I picked up from EBAY last year very old still sealed in plastic never flown still trying to get the perma wrinkles out of it. black tag is stamped 1988 I think I'll have to check. Really Nice Kite I need to get an updated bridle for it those giant barrel swivels and the tow rope bridle crack me up. anyhow looks like It may be the makings of a axle. I think you are axel-ing the rev. I read a post somewhere about how to axel a rev. I tried it and it looked kind of like thet! The Solution: The location was Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands on the North East Coast. The two hotels in the background are Olivia Beach and Tres Isles. In some photos you will see Lanzarote in the background. We were too far from African west coast to see it on that day. The other person involved concerning the photo was our cameraman Pierre Liskissas from Cosica(France). The purpose of this trip was creating a Kite Video Catalog for kite shops in Switzerland. Actually the REV did do about a 1/4 axel, but it was really a 3D throw. The wind was quite strong and carried the REV quickly to the end of the lines which were 100ft long. Even in the original negative, it is difficult to see the lines dipping down almost touching the water. The photo was made at about a 45 degree angle from me relative to the lines. I was really wearing original Speedos when I was in the water flying the REV. That comes from my days of competition swimming. The REV I is one of the first made after the logo changed from Neos Omega to Revolution. The spars were connected with stainless steel ferrule which had a slight bend in them. The 5 year old sail was almost destroyed with all of the this sea water flying pushing it. The REV was provided by the kite shop "Drachen Himmel" in Switzerland. I don't even have one that old. You got me! A 100 foot throw is impressive to me as I’m about 50/50 with 30 foot lines. Don’t mind the kidding on the Speedo I swam competition and wore one almost every day for 3 years. With lines that length, you need in general a heavier REV and a nice smooth strong wind behind you. Your odds will improve dramatically. That particular REV was the REV I standard with the so-called 4-wrap(Revolution Equipped) rods. For those learning to toss the REV, I would suggest practicing first without lines until you have your throw right. Walking over and picking up the REV is much quicker then constantly untangling lines. When you got your throw right, then attach the lines. I also found that a REV with Mylar panels in the sail also glides much better, relative to the all cloth version. However, that is the only plus I have for the Mylar paneled REV. Possibly kite 02 or kite 41 from your collection, a rev II and a rev I SUL respectively.
