Oh No...........

Those dates conflict with our festival in Antigua, what a bummer......................

Oh well there's always 2010!

If anything changes we'll be back!

Thanks for your efforts Felix!

That is ofcourse the other option, have 2 events. I guess it would depend how many people were interested in a trip to California. If it were enough we could work with Dave to make it happen for sure.

Mark.

February 28th and March 1st, 2009 is Kite Party. 18 - 26th April Berck-Plage!

Lolly suggested that a lot of fliers were planning to attend Kite Party. There is no reason not to do 2 or more events. My only problem is how to get to them all. <grins>

I have to check the Tokyo Bay details soon. Apart from JB is anyone else thinking of going?

Hi Brian, Steve here. Everything is great back home! Getting ready to head to AKA Convention this Monday. Then off to Niagara the following week!

I won't be able to skip Antigua (I'd be crazy if I did, think paradise with Revs), but hope to see you at another European event in the future. Maybe one day you'll come to the States.

Sue and I are truly pleased that Felix managed to put together such a tremendous REV event. We met so many greeeaaaat folks. You can bet we're coming back! Gotta love any country that serves "bubble & squeak".

Best winds to you all!

Steve

I hope that 'lots' of the individual fliers from over there will find the resources. There is a tradition for single line fliers from the USA putting together a 'group' package to attend Berck as I recall!

Hi Felix...

If you hear of anything, please post it. I'll keep an eye on things, as well.

7 pages of this stuff.. Jeez! Look, KITE PARTY 7 is February 28th and March 1st. We WILL do a Mega Fly, everyone is invited. If you want to pursue some sort of OFFICIAL record, Guiness or otherwise, all you have to do is let me know, there is plenty of room on the beach, it is easy to do. It would be the ONLY "planned" activity of the weekend. Now... I don't have time to read through 8 pages of "discussion", so please just try to work it out and get back to me. We could have EASILY had 40 - 50 Revs in the air at once at KP6 without even trying. All this stuff about official teams, etc. doesn't interest me. It was tight enough on the fields for the "flyers" with just iQuad doing their thing. Although the OTHER side of the pier seems a certainty this year.

I'm already getting calls from different publications verifying the dates, it's only a matter of time before the papers and news channels start asking for info. Thank you.

Dave

Hi Felix...

Gérard has told me that the planning meeting for 2009 is due soon but that he does not think that the current financial climate is encouraging.

Obviously if teams/fliers are able to fund transport/accommodation costs then there is a different scenario.

No wind, topped out at 32/33 kites... Nothing more than 2 Mexican waves up and down. :(

Saturday, we topped out around 14.

Shame, they had awesome plans, just didn't have the wind to pull it off.

Great event on the whole though, as always...

Even better for me this year, Ill post more on the subject tomorrow (new topic), after some rest. <grin>

The plan was great. I had hoped that we would have another event to show what might be 'possible' for Berck Plage 2009.

Disappointment aside I will start a list for the event anyway. Decorators, Bolau, iQuad, FLIC, Crazy Drivers, Time Out.... please confirm your intention to attend even in these gloomy economic times.

Best wishes

Felix

I have sent some images to Gérard including the one attached here. (Thanks Hezz for the images)

It would be good to know who might be available to attend. Please let me know.

Thanks

Felix

Fair comment. I am slightly non-committal myself after the last effort!

Felix

C'mon Felix you guys did a great job, well aside from that missing space in the middle of the grid <wink>

From what I've seen over the years from festival video's and pictures I think if I had 1 wish to go to any festival in the world I'm thinking Berck would most likely be it, But after seeing this years Mega fly there is a challenger for the top spot.

While a trip to Berck is also high on my list of kite events to attend, sadly I don't see myself getting there anytime soon.

I know in these difficult economic times it makes international travel or for that matter domestic travel, much more difficult for people on both sides of the ocean so I don't say the below at the exclusion of the international community.

I know it's been brought up for discussion here before but I think that if this was attempted at a place like Wildwood it could easily achieve the number of flyers being sought just on the basis of proximity to so many American flyers who live on the east coast or could drive in within a 12 hour window and the various American teams, and other interested flyers. The beach is ridiculously huge and the boardwalk offers great viewing for the public at large.

I'll caveat here again by saying I don't have the organizational skills, knowledge of what's involved to get it done or the time to be 100% involved but I have and will continue to volunteer whatever time I can to help see it through if it should ever come to pass.

Hi,

We are also planning to attend to Berck Festival. But.....

Next year, Valencia International Festival will start on 18 April, which is same weekend as Berck Festival, so in the case we could assist to both events :confused!: , we would go to Berck on the second weekend, maybe between 23-26 april.

It won't be easy to manage both festivals AND our family commitments....... as usual.

Regards

Giuseppe & Bolau

I was glad when it was all over because of the level of anxiety I experienced being involved in the preparations.

Berck is a great festival and now we know the dynamics of the Grid Mega Team are viable it would be great to see it develop. However, care must be taken to keep a balance between the Mega Team and the traditional team activity!
