Stephen Hoath
I know who it is! He lives in the USA west of the Mississippi! OK John, but who are the two people behind him?
johnnmitchell
Mystery Photo No. 30You have to guess all four at the same time. Who are these famous former competitors? Mystery Photo No. 30 was very easy for some and very hard for others. Now for the solution. From left to right are: - Mark Lummas - Jeanette Lummas - Susan Shampo - Ron Despojado There quad line team is "Too much Fun". In the background to the left is Ben D'Antonio. I have no idea who is on the right in the background.
johnnmitchell
OK John, but who are the two people behind him? I only know of one REV flier who runs around with wood line winders in his back right pocket, barefooted and sometimes with black jeans. The other appears to be female and I think she had a baby daughter nearby.

Extra kudos for the year 'cause I forgot I know the country. I think I know the beach. I could make a good guess at the team. The year would be tricky. johnnmitchell
Good so far John, try again on the person in Grey/ I realized my mistake just a minute before. The lady in grey has only one child, a young son who was nearby. Does anyone know who the three people are, with all of these tips?
johnnmitchell
While you are all trying to sort how who is who in Mystery Photos No. 31 and No. 32 I'll add in another photo. Mystery Photo No. 33. (two related photos). What quad team are these pilots and Revs on? What is the location? For extra points, who are the two pilots? monkey
Picture 33 - definitely some of the Flying Squad as thats their custom hand vented sails (which, fly REALLY nice I'll add!). Im not sure of the beach but, I don't think its Berck however. My gut reaction on the pair flying would be Mr. Hoath himself and Jeanette Lummas, but, it could also be the couple I have seen in pictures that I didn't meet in Berck. 31 is pretty easy, thats Ron Despojado, for sure. 32, all i can say I think its the Berck beach

They are from The Flying Squad. The location is NOT in Berck or in France. The persons are NOT Stephen Hoath or Jeanette Lummas. 31 is pretty easy, thats Ron Despojado, for sure. I agree on Ron Despojado. But who is the guy on the right and the gal behind Ron. 32, all i can say I think its the Berck beach I would agree with you on it being at Berck. The little houses are typical to Berck, but that is not saying other beaches nearby might use the same type of houses. Let us see what Stephen says on this. Who else has such grace and style with a rev? 32 - Correct with Berck, as for the team, they were not really known as a quad team. As you may have guessed from the sail pattern this was approximately 10 years ago. Does that help?
Stephen Hoath
tell ya what i'd love to know how they made all those holes thats awsome. Take one soldering iron and one bottle of wine. Carefuly poke the (hot) soldering iron through the skin of the sail in neat lines Reward your care with a sip of wine every 10 holes. Pray you finish the holes before the wine on a more serious note, we used a template drawing a grid on it and making a hole on all the intersections. That way you can guarantee the holes are symetrical. It takes a very long time and I would recommend doing it in a well ventilated area (suggest Nevada!) The kites fly very well but can look a little faded in the sky due to the lack of any real sail area. They are like flying a standard in 6mph wind even when the wind is blowing 30mph I am currently working on larger holes having calculated the surface are of the holes on the "T-bag" revs. This takes less time but can have some odd effects on the sail tension. The holes on this kite are in the right place for the new sail cut. However, I was only prepared to sacrifice an EXP sail.

That would be "Sky Dance" around 1997/1998 as that would be about the time REV came out with the first EXP's and just a year or so before Jeanette and Mark moved to California. lummas
Nice one John. Trust you to know it was us with those Black, White and Red revs. What is interesting, if you recall, is that back then, they were not known as EXP's but were simply the first generation of the 1.5 It wasn't really until the launch of the SLE that we really started seeing the EXP naming being used. Just an aside. Mark.

Just an aside. Mark. I goofed that one. If I would have looked at the color layout on the panels, I would have known it was not the EXP. Then the EXP reversed the colors from side to side were the REV 1.5 colors were mirrored from side to side. Wasn't it in 1997 when the REV 1.5 became essentially the REV 1.5 EXP still with nylon and the REV 1.5 SLE in polyester came on the market? I think it was Jan/98 when the first SLEs appeared in both the revamped 1.5 and the supersonic/shockwaves. They started popping up in REVisions articles right about then and I posted a pack of pictures of the first one in Vancouver i should dig thru my photos too! I do believe you are quite correct! I tried an SLE for the first time at Castiglione del Lago Italy in April 1998. I got my first one shortly there after and a vented in August. I never got an EXP for myself.
