Sorry, I missed this message!

Yes, I do remember the "Master of Disaster" Michael Hildebrandt!

The girl you mention is Swetlana. She was off and on a girl friend for a number of years.

The sail panel layout is one I haven't seen before, three colors plus white center. Is it my imagination or does the sail look a bit loose?

You are pointing a little bit in the right direction.

The sail panel style came about in 1997 as can be seen here in a REV II.

A variation of the panel style can be seen today in the standard production REV I.

Keep searching!

Well, on the first picture, it looks like the kite is on about 7 foot lines. On the second one it looks like there is a progressive stack. Looks as if there is a while fluff or something hanging from the Rev I... I think that rev is a tad bit old, as the sail seems like it is very stretched out.

Nope! The sail is old in years only. It looks like it has never been flown.

The short lines are for photographical purposes only. Hanging it back is a support line to keep the REV from blowing forward. Neither item has anything to do with what we are looking for.

The REV II is in fact the leader in a progressive train from 1997. This fact also has nothing to do with what we are looking for.

This is nasty, it even through me for a loop.

I am not sure, but do I see the cheater sticks and harness on the back of the kite? I see a very thin line going across the kite, it is too low to be the bridle. I cannot tell if it is shadow or what. Now remember, I have only known of the Revolution kite for less than a year.......

Hi John...

How's everything?

To me, it looks like the panel of the Rev logo is a different shape and is much larger in proportion to anything from these days. What's the little logo under the "TI" of the Rev logo? Oh, and the scale is different than the 1.5; thinner from the middle point to the LE. Also, the downspars on this go from an angle out to in vs. the recent ones that the angle is from in to out (on the diagonal)... at least I think so... not familiar with every kite, though.

What model is this?

I would say this is close enough!

This is another one of those mysterious REVs from the vaults of Revolution. The sail is a REV I cut down to almost REV 1.5 height. It is also narrower, but I did not check the rod lengths. I am only guessing that it might have been an idea for changing the REV 1.5 panels back in 1997 that never came about.

It would have been nice with the REV progressive train I made back in 1997 having all 3 REVs with similar sail designs.

I still have it but it has to go back to Revolution next week.

The thin line on the back goes to a stake to stabilize the REV for the photograph. It was a squirrely wind today and I wanted a particular background.

This REV II was discovered within the vaults of Revolution.

What is unusual about it? At least I believe so.

The sail is the correct size. It has nothing to do with the lines connected to the REV nor the surroundings in the photo.

Those who know the past and present REV II real well should have the advantage here.

The Logos look wrong, for a start.

Is it a Rev 1 sail cut down to Rev 2 size, so possibly a first version.

?

Hi John-

I certainly don't have any history references past this time last year....

but... it appears to me that it's one piece of fabric. It definitely looks like the logo panel (what we are used to seeing) isn't there.

I like the look!

The REV II basic "was" always a single color.

It looks like the entire sail is one piece of fabric. I don't remember seeing that when the logo is in the center and it's not a Masterpiece.

After another look, is that part of the bridal or is this two pieces of fabric sewn in the middle?

The basic was always one piece. Unfortunately it is not made anymore.

No, it is not a masterpiece. The bridle is not it. The sail is not sewn in 2 pieces.

This one seems a bit difficult.

Tip 1: This REV II has something that some other REV IIs have but other REV IIs don't have.

Tip 2: Both Laura and Simon have tipped on it, but did not nail it.

Is it the colour of the Logo then?

Anything to do with Blue on Red?

If it is we are getting just a little too deep into this

If you look back at the REV II's, they had all sorts of colors for the logos; pink, blue, turquoise, black, orange and etc.

No, it is not the color of the logo.

Tip: The REV II basic(one piece, single color sail) was last marketed in 1996.

Didn't the old Rev II have a curved Rev logo rather than this straight diminshing one?
