AdventureAng
One word on where to find finger lights....EBAY. I just ordered mine from there. They're pretty cheap too.
fortflyer
Just a little hint loop the elastic (if it comes with it) back over the top of the light with the pressure holding the switch in the off position, that helps to keep them from turning on in the bag. Gautama1
Well I managed to find some lights, not finger ones though. I had to make some adjustments and with a little creativtiy it worked out well, they are not too heavy and they stay on. I had a great time the other night for the solo 1st flight. If there is anybody in the SF bay area who wants to fly, I am trying to find people to fly with. I need to learn and it is hard to do on my own. Gautama1
Here ya go. It works very well. I thought that it might not work but the lights stayed on and didn't switch off.
rob
my favourite time with the revs is at night and my red/white and blue lights are my favourites .check out the video in the kite den http://www.thekiteden.co.uk/USERIMAGES/luts.wmv
steveb
I have been night flying with the Skunk, on his Rev 1 he uses 3 or 4 strings of 20 ultra bright leds. Each string of lights are powered by 2 AA batterys.I have doubled up the lights and 40 leds can be powered by one battery pack, obviously the batterys will not last so long. Some pics at the link below and also some from last years Light up the Sky event where he also flew an illuminated Rev1. http://mysite.orange.co.uk/kapics Wonderful photos, Harrier! rob
great video skunk.. what lights are you useing ??? Hi Antman here is a video of the light to explain them.... http://www.thekiteden.co.uk/USERIMAGES/lights1.wmv I have used up to 6 sets on the rev 1 but you do need a nice bit of wind, each battery box is taped to the uprights one at the top, middle and bottom of the spar, total lights on kite 120 it looks awesome and I have had many ufo sighting on the beaches when I flly it....i have no light like these for sale now but do have some others on my sales page but i think with the postage to the usa would make em to pricey ...I will be getting more of the other lights around christmas when they seem to get put on the shelfs happy nightflying
antman
ive seen those before.. ther are christmas lights .. i never used them because of how heavy the battery packs are .. 2 or 3 sets would probly make the kite harder to fly control wise.. but if it works for you i might try it myself .. i really think its time for rev to make a light kit for thier kites.. im sure their are alot of people that are waiting for that too

boomzilla
on kite lights...a while back, jb pointed me in the direction of these lights...http://www.windpowersports.com/accessories/kitelights.html...at this point, oracle & i use four to six of them on each of our revs...they are quite handy, we set them up at dusk, while we can still see, & wait for dark to turn them on...battery inserted one way & they are off, battery inserted the other way & they are on...they are very lite & bright...we think that the red ones are the brightest...they come with an elastic bungee cord for looping onto the spars & caps...since there are no photos of the actual lights on the website, i will attempt some photos, the product is called dynamic sky lights...they are powered by some kind of watch battery & the best way to get extra batteries is to do a search on the web to find the best prices, watch battery prices really vary, the worst source is usually the typical local store...hope the photos help, these lights are a vast improvement over the finger lights...photos showing three colors, orange & yellow setup, red setup...& red setup falling as i photograph on a windy night...happy night flights, boomzilla & oracle

bartman
I'm not prepared nor good enough with the Rev to fly at night, but I sure wish I was tonight! Plus 14C (57F) with a 30kph (18mph) SW wind which is nicer than most daylight hours I get. That 30kph would translate to about 20 (12) in the areas I can fly (all sheltered to come degree) so pretty much perfect. Unheard of temps for this time of year. Most years we'd have snow on the the ground by now. Perhaps by this time next year. Bart
Lauranyyfan
Have any of you had a chance to see my night fly from Wildwood this past weekend, during the Rev Party? It was extremely gusty and turbulant as a nor'easter was approaching. We refer to it as the "Big Smackdown" It was very funny. I was just doing bicycles, mainly, as I liked the way the lights turned into circles. Here's the link: If you like, check out the post under upcoming events, Rev Party Oct. 2008, pg. 10, toward the bottom. There's nothing too special there... but it is cool flying at night; especially with good company! The lights on either end were LCD lights that attach to a hat or whatever via a springloaded clip, they're very bright and can take a beating; as the light didn't fail when the smackdown occured, breaking the clip into several pieces. The inner lights are actually earrings that have an LCD light in each one. The earrings come in several colors and are very bright. The earrings need a bit of "tweaking" to steady them a bit better, but they work reasonably well and are inexpensive.

No sun burn, crowds, parking problems, sunglasses or hassles in general. The winds seem so steady out and calm a bit at night. I guess it has to do with all that thermal stuff. You don't need lights on the kite to fly at night unless it's a pitch black night or you have a black kite. It's just extremely cool. The main light you need is to set up, take down, and to fix stuff. I get off work at midnight and drive by the beach on the way home sometimes so I often stop for a quickie(fly). A flashlight will do but the best piece of night flying equipment I have is a hat with 3 white LEDs built into the bill.

This is one area where it doesn't have to cost a lot of money to set up for so I'm sure I'll get there. We don't get a lot of nice wind at night here. Usually it calms right down, but there are a few exceptions where it will be either howling or just right. It would increase my available flying time for sure.
