Felix
Hi,We are also planning to attend to Berck Festival. But..... Next year, Valencia International Festival will start on 18 April, which is same weekend as Berck Festival, so in the case we could assist to both events :confused!: , we would go to Berck on the second weekend, maybe between 23-26 april. It won't be easy to manage both festivals AND our family commitments....... as usual. Regards Giuseppe & Bolau Hi Giuseppe, It looks like the second weekend would be good for us as well, 23-26th would be great! I would hope that some of us could go to Valencia as well ;-) Felix
Lauranyyfan
While a trip to Berck is also high on my list of kite events to attend, sadly I don't see myself getting there anytime soon.I know in these difficult economic times it makes international travel or for that matter domestic travel, much more difficult for people on both sides of the ocean so I don't say the below at the exclusion of the international community. I know it's been brought up for discussion here before but I think that if this was attempted at a place like Wildwood it could easily achieve the number of flyers being sought just on the basis of proximity to so many American flyers who live on the east coast or could drive in within a 12 hour window and the various American teams, and other interested flyers. The beach is ridiculously huge and the boardwalk offers great viewing for the public at large. I'll caveat here again by saying I don't have the organizational skills, knowledge of what's involved to get it done or the time to be 100% involved but I have and will continue to volunteer whatever time I can to help see it through if it should ever come to pass. I second your sentiments on Wildwood.... who's up for it? We were a third of the way there last year, without promoting it!

I wonder if we should consider 'outlining' a plan for grid mega team events given the recent practical experience at Portsmouth/Bristol. What are the dates for Wildwood next year? KiteLife
iQuad will almost certainly be in Wildwood as a four-pack, I'm willing to give calling the grid a shot, if no one else more experienced (or more eager) is going to be there... I'm pretty sure I can pull off a first try in decent fashion.

JynxKites
OK You Veterans... Where the heck is Berck and Wildwood? Or are you keeping the newbees in the dark on purpose? Jynx I did my homework on Huntington.. Hope to see you/s there! (In case you can't find me... just look in the air... I'll be the one with the Rev!) Berck is in the northernmost part of France, also right on the beach (known as the Opal Coast) with huge beaches, as well; from what I've read. I've never been to Europe, yet. There's no secrets.... just riddles for newbies. Actually, I'm not much further ahead than you. I started flying the end of March this year. Felix
One role that needs to be addressed for future events will be a 'field organiser' who would get the fliers lined up and correctly spaced and then keep an eye on the fliers positions on the ground during a performance. Another possible role is for a 'spotter' to home in on any flier who is having difficulties and to guide/advise them accordingly and may also involve relaying a '2nd strike invitation' to land their kite (and move off the field) as has been suggested elsewhere. There may be other 'rules of engagement' that need to be discussed. Felix

Felix New York is at least a 2 1/2 hour drive from Wildwood depending on which airport you fly into, time of day, etc but it's a straight shot down the Garden State Parkway Not sure how much cheaper it would be, but flying into Philadelphia would certainly put you much closer to Wildwood geographically then flying into one of the New York area airports. Philly is approx 1.5 hrs drive to Wildwood. Either way, sure hoping you guys can make it!!!!!

I had wondered about Philly and will do some research ahead of our AGM January 10th! 2 1/2 hours plus is a long haul after a flight! I recall that it can take a fair old time from JFK into town... Felix
I just heard that Team4Fun expect to be at Berck. If all the usual teams are there and iQuad get 4 across we are potentially up to 40 fliers <grins> Felix

I just checked BA flights and it is GB Pounds 10 more expensive to fly to and from Philly compared to New York. (£348/£338 currently) Our AGM in January will determine if we pursue it...
