5th annual West Coast Rev Clinic

Came down to Ocean Park Wed night, partly to work on our vacation home.

Today, the wind died down for a while, and the rain paused. I drove out on the beach to see if the conditions would allow a little flying. I stopped, opened the car door, and the wind almost yanked it out of my hand. Turned the car facing upwind, and it was almost impossible to open the door. Since then, the wind has picked up again!:P (No, I did not try to fly. :kid_brooding:)

Predictions of wind for the Fri and Sun look good, but Sat may be a little exciting but doable.

As for rain - probably showery.

See ya all soon.

<2 days and counting!

Getting pretty jazzed about my 1st Rev clinic.

Anyone doing anything Fri evening, everyone meet at a certain spot pre event? I will likely not be pulling in until later in the evening, but figured I would ask...

We often eat at Thai Cuisine just north of town... Not sure, we usually figure it out midday. :)

Weather update:

The sun came out, the wind died down to mid- to upper-teens, and I hit the beach this afternoon. Temperature a balmy (relatively) 50F or so. Great smooth SSW winds. Perfect vented flying.

I hope this bodes well for Fri and Sun. For Sat, you may want to bring your car door to fly. :kid_smartass:

To bad about Lost Roo - great food and atmosphere. I guess I'm glad they are busy, tho - too many restaurants with good intentions and good food have been floundering in this economy.

See yah soon.

WOW, what an exciting and fun weekend! Not really sure where to start... First and foremost, thanks to Iquad, World Kite museum, Kite Shoppe and all the sponsors for hosting this event. Without thier work, this event would not happen.

WCRC is definitely well worth the time and investment. Anyone that has not attended one yet, DO SO as soon as possible you will not regret the investement!

I had to leave a bit earlier than I had planned today, just as the wind came up and everyone shifted to vent's. I hope the weather held up and I took all the nastiness with me. I had snow most of the way out of longbeach until I hit town, hopefully I took one for the team and you guys had a good afternoon.

The sense of family in the Rev community is simply amazing. It was interesting to whatch everyone gathering into small groups, getting to know each other, sharing tips. Many an impropmtu group flights as one becomes two which draws the attention of 2 more. Other kiters spread out, We pack up and rock on!blue_music.gif

Thanks to everyone for welcoming a complete newbie and making me feel at home. I know I learned allot and can't wait till the next time we fly together!sign_kitelife.gif

I'd be seconding that sentiment!!! Tons of fun, seeing friends old and new!!! Great time, good weather on Sat, THANK YOU, Bazzer, for running a group of us through team exercises! Great time at Chico's on Sat. nite,( gotta remind JB to stuff the ballot box in my favor)!! Sunday was all over the place wind-wise!! But through it all everyone seemed to be having a good time!! Learned some new things to work on,( Thanks Watty)!! Looking forward to the oncoming festival season with a new eye towards things!!

Almost forgot our informal indoor get together!! We were honored to have Steven from South Africa attend, along with JB, Watty, Steven, Theresa (Thanks for helping me with the loose ferrule), Carl and his friend Carl, and myself!! Would have loved to have more, but it was Monday, work and life call!! Anyway those of us there had a great time and learned much!! Thanks go out to the owner and manager of the soccer field, they really have a commitment to giving back to the community!! And I personally would like to thank them for providing me with a great place to fly, extending my flying season!!

Had so much fun, can't wait for more!!!

This was my second Rev clinic, and I may have used up all my superlatives last year. The weather was a little more finicky this year, but the outstanding group of flyers and instructors more than made up for the challenge of the weather. My thanks to everyone who participated. As Wayne mentioned, I have some specifics to work on, thanks to Watty, Bazzer and Terry, and a few others.

I highly recommend the clinic for flyers who want to learn new skills, improve or correct existing skills and have lots of team flying opportunities. Do we really have to wait a whole year?

I know it's short notice, but what about a Sat/Sun in April?

Sunset Beach (near Seaside) or Long Beach again?

I'm fond of Long Beach, myself.

More than likely, it'd just be Spence, TK and I instructing so we're looking at a more casual format.

No curriculum, just 2 days of flying, one-on-one coaching, pairs/team practice, etc, open to all skill levels!

No effect on the "hard core" team clinic in July, that's in the works too. :)

Alright folks, a little more info...

1. I'm just waiting to confirm with Watty that he's available for April 14-15, if he's alright, that'll be the date... I'll confirm tonight.

2. ALL AGES are most welcome... Matter of fact, youth 15 years or younger will just be $10 more with a registered parent or guardian.

I'm anxious to get this squared away, so stay tuned for news soon. ;)

My lingering concern with doing the clinic at Sunset Beach (near Seaside) is the new Oregon laws pertaining to gatherings, and permit requirements.

With this in mind, I think we'll be favoring Long Beach - just less chance of complication.
