Rev 2, Someone needs to snap this up!

Someone needs to snap this baby up before it disappears. The seller clearly doesn't realize what they have:

Yes, judging by the picture, he hasn't a clue. He even set up the kite with the rods on the front.

At that time the REV II was made in three different patterns and many colors.

They were the basic(one color), classic(two colors) and the Rainbow(now called the Sedgwick layout)

That particular one is a classic of the second generation which would have been made somewhere between 1992 and 1996.

The first generation was made between 1990 and 1992. Distinctive to the first generation were metal end caps and swivels on the bridle.

I was lurking, waiting for a relisting at a lower starting price. It would have been a nice complement to the "basic" (solid blue) Rev II I snagged a few months ago on eBay.

But then again, why do I really need two Rev IIs? I should be saving for a Zen.

Did anyone on the forum snag this kite?

I bit my nails, sat on my hands, closed my eyes, and shut off my computer to save my money for a Rev I. (Or Zen, if I can hold off long enough.)

I have a strong collector's urge which is incompatible with financial responsibility.

Aerochic - nah, you didn't mess my strategy really. Better someone pays what the kite is worth than what I'm willing to pay, today.

So, who snagged it? Fess up!

I don't believe that the actual owner of this kite, was the one doing the selling. It appeared to me, to be some third party, that didn't particularly deal in kites, per say. I emailed pictures, to Lolly, for identification, back on March 9th. She told me that this particular kite was manufactured in 1990 & 1991, and that it appeared to be in shape [Hi Nick, That Rev 2 design was made in 1990 and '91. Looks like it is in good shape. Lolly] I would have snatched it up (or at least tried), but I had just purchased a brand new Rev II, only 7 days before. Still kinda wished I had gone for it. It only ended up drawing 3 bids, and I bet $130 would have brought that baby home.......darn it..............

You're teaching me something new, which I admit, isn't too hard, because I am relatively new, to the Rev scene.........Anyway, I had thought that the Sedgwick series, had always been associated with the Rev I, but what I'm understanding from your post, is that Rev II, likewise had a Sedgwick series, back in the early '90's ? Thanks for the info.................. Do you by chance have any photos or pics ?

I'm happy to say that my newly acquired Rev II was waiting for me upon my return from KP8!

This thing looks as if it may have been flown once or twice......if at all.....seriously, It looks like it's brand spanking new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To clarify this, from a document I have written that was verified by Joe Hadzicki, the designer. I think if you would have provided Lolly with close up photos of the end caps and bridle she would have provided you more precise information.

If the REV II or I had metal end caps, then the earliest production date would have been mid 1991. The patent number was not issued until 1991 and it did not get onto the sail until mid 1991. If the REV II or I had plastic end caps then the production date would have been 1992 or later.

Search for older topics on this forum mentioning colors for the REV II. There you should find a number of photos that I shot and published.

You'll surely get no arguments out of me. Like I said, I'm the "Newbie" on the block. Unfortunately, those photos, that I sent to Lolly, were the only one's available, from the seller. I'm sure if she could have seen the end caps clearly, she would have known the exact year. At least she was pretty darn close, and I'm sure she was going on color, alone. Thanks for the information, though. I'm going back and look for those posts, that you referenced, concerning the colors. That's interesting, and my learning curve, on the Rev, is still moving.

I can unequivocally state that the kite has plastic end caps and the patent # on the trailing edge. Pictures to follow if anyone is wanting to see them.
