Felix
Nice thought Bob - would that be enough to get Fraser out of his cave. I've no plans to get an event T shirt made - thermals maybe At the moment MetCheck has Saturday as the better day... http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/14days.asp Felix

Watching the changing predictions, however, suggests a surprising underlying consistency. We get weather!
Yrna
I only checked the other day how far north this actually is. I've since decided to pack my ski suit and chains for the car. I'm hoping to make it for the Friday night pub gathering, but it will depend on traffic etc. *shiver* I can't believe I signed up for this, it's probably twice as far as I thought! Ah but look on the bright side at least when you get back you will have qualified for your Explorers Badge. On the down side when you go that far north you only get two hours daylight each day. But us southern explorers don't venture that far north - that's practically polar circle!

Nobody died but in hindsight it was not a very good idea! I suppose I could bring the kite to Ainsdale and see if we could set it up as a four liner... <grins> Felix

Felix
I just want to see what happened to the dog once the leading edge snapped back into line :-) So the wind was offshore even though the swell (incoming waves) was motoring. That scenario has always puzzled me but it does seem to make big waves in some parts of the world. Met-check suggests a completely different forecast for 21-22/11/2009 last time I looked. Felix Yes, The wind was running left to right as you look out to sea.almost Parrallel .It did blow more out toward the sea a little later. When the wind blows out tosea.Im told it lifts the waves, makes the stand taller and break for longer. When in the oposit direction. The wind pushes the sea further in and flattens the waves. Ive read much on tides and winds over the years. Some say ther linked and some say ther not.I most definetly think they are. They have tobe, surly. http://www.windguru.com/int/index.php?sc=1064 This site is handy for a look at the weather at Ainsdale. As good or as bad as them all.Ther is a handy map also which in satelite view.Shows the roads and buildings on the approach to the beech.
