I'm also personally very fond of the The Cloisters*** - beautiful museum and park grounds.*http://www.metmuseum.org/ **http://www.nybg.org/ ***http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_Of_Art/the_cloisters 2nd on the Met. Not a great time of year for the Botanical gardens. Haven't done the heli tour, but I have flown over NYC. Pretty spectacular and made this native oooh and ahhhh. Although, nearly as good would be a view from the observation decks at the Empire state Bldg or the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center). If you do make it up to the Cloisters, I'd hop a cab and take stroll across the George Washington Bridge. Similarly, I *love* the Brooklyn bridge. Nicely strollable and a great view up/down the rivers. It also is the only NYC bridge that has park benches along its span. Great place for a brown bag lunch. In warmer months, I'd recommend a stroll over the Bklyn bridge towards sunset, grab an ice cream, and watch the NYC skyline come alive. For a similar reason, the Staten Island Ferry. Nice view of NYC harbor (did you know the entire US fleet can dock inside there and then some????), and I always get a charge on the return trip and seeing NYC get bigger. Never did it, but a hansom cab ride in central park, especially near the Plaza Hotel just *screams* NYC, and don't forget to grab some chestnuts from a street vender. His words!!! As heard from Antman screaming as loud as he could (on the beach at WW 2007) "I like it from behind!".
