  1. just an updat for all .. im haveing a major repair done to my truck .. they started working on it today.. laura knows some of the details so far .. im hopeing this will be done by then so i can make it there .. i will keep you all posted on this and im really hopeing this will be ready to go by then

    As Paul Simon says

"Just hop on the bus, Gus,

Make a new plan, Stan............Just set yourself free"

    C'mon Ant,

    get your butt in gear!!!!!!!!!

  2. It's not far down to paradise

At least it's not for me

And if the wind is right you can fly away

    And find tranquility

    The kite can do miracles

    Just you wait and see

    Believe me

It's not far to never never land

    No reason to pretend

And if the wind is right you can find the joy

    Of innocence again

    Kiteing

    Takes me away

To where I've always heard it could be

Just a dream and the wind to carry me

And soon I will be free

It gets the best of me

    When I'm kiteing

All caught up in the reverie

    Every word is a symphony

    Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity

At least it's not for me

And when the wind is right you can fly away

    And find serenity

    The kite can do miracles

    Just you wait and see

    Believe me

  3. Hey, has anyone heard if Antman is going to be there? It's his hometown after all... :kid_devlish:

It must be getting close because I am getting antsy!

I got to fly for a couple minutes today but I am looking forward to some steady Wildwood winds!

    -Alden

Ya know......Ant always said, "on my beach, you must fly or go home"..........Guess that means we won't be seeing much of Brad!!!!! :D

Was thinking bout ya Alden.....Yesterday was hours of great team flying and great laughs out at NYIKF. Scotty, Rich J, Rich H, Archie Stewart, Laura and me. Looking forward to more great laughs with different friends along the line.

  4. Hey Ray,

    Welcome!

People talk about "the walk of shame" when you have to "casually" stroll out to your kite to right it.

Those walks become fewer and fewer as your skills improve.

The only true walk of shame is the walk you have to do when leaving a perfectly good flying field while the sun is still up and the breeze is blowing.

    Welcome!!!!!

  5. Hi all! Too bad I gotta work for a living....and live on the left coast. Sounds like you all are going to have a sweet time, I hope the weather cooperates!

Ask Bazzer, Steve, or Quaa714 about the kitestakes I make. They could show you the ones they bought from me....... :innocent:

Walt......I got it today....It's awesome. way better than what the picture represented.

    Will proudly show it off.

will also see if it can pierce Brad's thick skin!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Well here's another one Family and this is a real treat for me because of my personal feeling with Martin Lester and

his work in the single line arena, he makes some really great kites and his attention to detail is beyond measure for

sure......... Martin has paid his dues many times over the years and then to get a chance to work with him on a project

has been a huge honor and then to see his creations has made even me reach for my wallet...... :blue-cool: So with

that said I hope you enjoy " A Balance of Design" as much as I enjoyed getting this project done.....Ben :blue-cool::blue-cool:

    Ben!!!!!!!!!!!

    you're killing me!

    That's HOT!!!!!!!!

  7. Laura here is the thread that John started on the subject.

    http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?sh...c=1585&st=0

He used a standard 20th Anniv. with 12' 50# lines and I believe JD is quoted as saying wind was "0 with gusts up to 1ish."

Monkey also added "With the occasional gust of -2 for extra suckage."

That video actually got me flying on short lines I'm using 20' now but I'm going to cut them in half and make 2x10' as I'm attempting indoors as well.

I really liked this Vid as I'm always found messing with park benches, people, swing sets, telephone poles rocks or anything stationary or non :kid_smartass:

Even the Fort I fly at gets the walls walked down with my rev, I just like interacting with stuff :innocent:

You're not talking about Fort Adams, are you? Kinda doubt it since you could easily wind your way down the road to Brenton Point.

  8. Hehehehehehe! Ok, I can work with that. What time is beer o'clock then?

Beer O'clock is right before we launch.

As for the schedule after beer O'clock, it would prolly go something like this:

bust on Ant for not getting there sooner :o

bust on Brad for talking and not flying :o

bust on everyone else for not getting there sooner to bust on Ant and Brad. :big_bangin:

  9. You guys crack me up!

I almost peed my pants (as they say)..... I was laughing so hard when we all attacked Sammy on his way out. Then, when Rich went after Steve, and Steve stepped on one of Rich's lines, yet he was still slapping the kite back and forth at him... holy sh*t, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! Good stuff, guys... too bad I couldn't get my camera out fast enough....that was award winning material :kid_devlish: .

    Thanks.

What a great day it turned out to be! Steady breezes, good times, good friends, lotsa laughs!

  10. I don't need a warning about Rich.

In truth I think Rich is a talented flier (don't tell him I said so though).

Together we flew some very nice formations last time we flew together.

Now, will that stop me from busting on him? No way!

I did share with him my secret about Antman so I actually think that Antman will be the target of abuse (again).

I'm looking forward to flying with everybody again in a couple weeks.

    -Alden

    Right back atcha pal!

And I'll definitely remember not to "turn my back" to Ant!!!

  11. Beautiful Sunshine here... NO Wind. :( Hopefully that'll change sometime today.

Beautiful day at Liberty, beautiful but dead calm, no wind.

That was until about 1pm when the wind shift to the south came about. Right about the same time Steve showed up.

    Off to the races than.

One sky, one world was definitely in effect at Liberty today. We were 5 Revs, Sammy and Laura showed up and a new Rev flyer named Al. There were plenty of other kites in the sky as well.

    Just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. great weather today is i sit here watching football .. somking a good cigar and a great glass of wine.. tomorrow i fly the woods once again.. sure hope the liberty park fliers are haveing a great day so far

    Awesome day today!!!!!

when I got there it was dead still. Put up a 1.5 with 2 wraps, 25' x 50# LPG and did a bunch of 360s, etc. I'm too old for that running crap so I put it down. Steve showed up and so did the breeze. Big shift and easily 15.

Right quick we were on 120s. Then Sammy showed up, then Al (new to Revs), then Laura and her niece.

    A great day.

    Ant, you were missed!!!!

  13. First off, Steve and I had a great day. Light wind to start, absolutely still for approx 90 mins and then a 180 degree shift and all of a sudden we had easily 14 from the south. Amazing!

Steve says he's going old school and putting in his SLE (more on that later). My old 1.5 has similar colors to the 1.5 Steve was flying and since the sticks bridle was already off I put that one out. What a great time we had!!!!!!!

You guys all lovingly bust on me bout flying with sticks, etc. and I never retort other than to say....have a nice walk or did you remember a spike?, I can lend you one. When I picked up Revs in Newport way back when, everyone flew with sticks and some still do. Thanks for the support Fortflyer, New England boy that you are! To me the only walk of shame is the one when you have to leave the field while a good wind is still blowing and everyone else is still up flying. Now THAT's a shame!!!!

Flying with sticks in lighter winds teaches discipline and finesse as it definitely adds a bit more weight to the kite requiring a bit more effort in overall control. Response wise, a kite with sticks does not bowtie in higher winds nor does it tip wrap at the bottom as easily.

Are the sticks needed? Hell no! Are they fun to fly with? Hell yeah! Do I care about being busted on? Hell no, just expect a little fun time ribbing back.

Alden, just for you when we get to the Wood, I'll fly sticks free. Wouldn't want you getting twitchy on the right side of your figure 8's. :o

To Ant, we'll just continue to laugh about the virtues of 119's :shifty: and to Brad....what can I say? There is just so much material!!! :sq_wink:

Oh yeah, back to Steve's flying with an SLE.....don't remember the last time I flew with an SLE but man o man the kite gets real stiff. No flex at all. Talk about flat axels! Wow!

Anyway, we had a great day. Hopefully today will be similar. Now, GO FLY A KITE!!!!!! :kid_content:
