About Me
Rather laid back, self employed in business, semi-retired grampa to four cuties, single Dad with one last teenager at home. I have been making and flying kites and wind things since about 13 years old, re-visited my interest when I saw dual line sport kites in a beachside shop while in Mexico in mid 90's. Bought my first dual liner '98 in Galveston TX while on vacation there, little bitty thing was so hard to fly in erratic AZ winds it came very close to being "stompage" many times-- no one told me about a stake or how to launch it -- idiot kite shop managers!! Luckily I moved to TX and was invited to go to a kite fest at Zilker Park, Austin, TX-- there I watched two guys flying these really wierd four line kites and they could do some very wild stuff!!! ( Tye H. and Troy G.) -- I was glued to the spot for a hour and had to be pried away by pals to go see some other kites (sport kite stack). After another kite fest in San Marcos and then a trip to the coast I moved to the beach breezes and was out on the filed "revving it up" every day after work. I then became involved and produced the AKA competitions locally, later marketed tourist kites on the beach and finally opened a kite shop in the Heritage District. Been very active in reviving the local kite club since 2000 and produce two kite events annually, one to benefit the kids and families of the Down Syndrome Assn. and a fun fly for the opening of the Christmas season each year. 2011 is my renewal to get out my REv's and enjoy to the fullest (doctors orders-- more activities!!!)
