  1. Well here's another one for everyone and I really hope that Ron can give me a name for this

and this project has as always been both an honor and huge amount of fun...... So being that

said thank you very much Mr. Ron Gibian for sharing your time and art with me and thank you

so much for making this kite come alive..... Ben blue_cool.gifblue_cool.gifblue_cool.gif

ps Ron I had to use this old photo of you....kid_devlish.gif

    this is called Arrival

  2. I understand but some people have there favorite artist and just want something by them

no matter what, it was yours Ron and they wanted me to take there opening bid no matter

what so I did, true bidding will start next week once they are all up I'm sure.... Benblue_cool.gifblue_cool.gifblue_cool.gif

wow sorry, sight unseen?? seriously never imagined but then again what in the hell do I know but you got the drift

  3. Ben doesn't have to bid, he's getting 8 free kites out of this deal so far, unless other artists jump in with their 2 kites, actually, Ben would have to bid and win 1 kite to have the complete collection, that kite being the duplicate of the kite that is choosen by the top artist that goes to AKA, but that would be kinda like inside trading.

Are you sure these artists are going to make 2 each? I sure would have been more eager to jump in on the bidding if it was One-Off kites being made for this challenge.

MINE IS THE SECOND IS A SECRET AND DIFFERENT

  4. Yes, as long as there were two crazy people out there willing to give up what they bid, the contest should be fine. If the bids were published then someone could just wait for a few minutes before the cut off to bid. Again, as long as someone else was willing to keep others in check by also bidding a crazy amount, everything would be fine.

My recommendation would be to keep bids private. This would also stop someone from out bidding the last person by $1.00. Hiding the amount of the bid means that the person willing to pay the highest, honest amount, wins (not the highest by $1).

I'm certainly not promoting it and I'd hope everything works out fine. I certainly don't have skin in this game so it's just my 2 cents.

    TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY TRUE

    I agree

  6. Alchemy INDEED!

    Love your work, Ron.

In my limited experience on this planet (almost the 3-score + 10 of biblical fulfillment) - there are three types of art - from a totally non-educated art observer - an (OMG in fact) engineer:

    1. Wow - that is soo cool - little urchins with big round eyes. After a month on the wall, why did I think that was beautiful? Elvis on black velvet can affect many that way - including myself for a day, but if you still enjoy the big eyes or black velvet - I'm not putting anyone down - they are interesting. For crying out loud, enjoy what you enjoy! I'm just unable to enjoy that type of art over a time period.

    2. What the heck is that? Mondrian, or Picasso's cubism, or a portrait of worn-out work shoes by Van Gogh. As a college freshman, I used my Seattle library card to check out Van Gogh's shoes from the Seattle library because I wanted to try to understand why a pair of ugly worn-out shoes was "art". I hung it on the wall of my dorm room. Both I, and my roomy jock from Montana, said - what is this all about? After two weeks, we both agreed that there was a soul there, something that took time to be appreciated. So, the delayed Wow which I attribute to better art.

    3. Then there is the rare double whammy - very rare - Wow on the first take, and double wow after living with it. Ron's work has that! (And I think I may own one very wonderful work of art!)

Hope I get to choose a purple, or a yellow, or a rainbow - but I should not prejudice my choices, since Ron Gibian's sensibilities are - well - the reason we are so attracted to his works.
