Stephen Hoath
OK, so i may be greedy and have too many toys but am i alone in finding i need to take two Rev bags to the beach? How do you deal with all that extra stuff like sun screen, ground stakes and food?
ragnarock47
One kite bag and a backpack/cooler combo works for me.
kwmf
Long duffel bag type is the best bag I've ever used... Keep it simple
Stephen Hoath
Appart from a built in beer cooler (or soda if you prefer) what gadget would you build into a rev carry bag? For me in England it would have to be some kind of built in ground sheet to stop the bag getting all muddy and wet during a long summer day! TerryB
I have put mine on a golf trolley skeleton to stop it getting soaked at St Andrews. Keeps it standing upright. Take Care Terry
trigger
I looked at the golf bag also.. Now im looking at some baseball bat bags.. Morrunya
I run around with a rev bag and a backpack. The rev bag, at most, holds my B-Pro set (zen, std, mid, vtd, & xtra), 2 kymeras, 2 Rev Indoors, 5-stack B2s, a spare b-series, a mid-vent b2, spare rods, lines/handles, kite stakes, dogstake, iflite, and spare parts. My backpack then holds food/water, rain gear, sunscreen, music CDs (competiton), and extra line for leaders. I even keep a little bag crumpled up in a pocket of my backpack, which I take out and put my shoes in when I'm on the beach. This setup gets me through pretty much everything. For me in England it would have to be some kind of built in ground sheet to stop the bag getting all muddy and wet during a long summer day! In the past, I've buried my rev bag to use as an anchor to keep a dogstake from coming out of the ground. There's a few small tweaks that I would like to see made to the rev bag, but overall, it holds everything that I require it to, and it is just small enough for me to carry on to any airplane. portlandflyer
Rev bag and small duffel hold everything I need! But unlike Watty, I keep my indoor stuff separate! And I agree, just a few tweaks would make it better!
Chook
Come on............. What sort of small tweaks are you hinting at? We all wan't a perfect bag. All my Revs live on the back seat of my 4 wheel drive, just in their sleeves. I need a good kite bag to tidy them up. Chook
Stephen Hoath
I'd like straps that didn't fall off my shoulder when i'm walking along.
Stone in Shoe Bob
I've been following this thread with interest, and have been trying to compose a response, Stephen and I have had several F2F conversations on this before. Kites wise, I think the Rev bag is fine. Stephen is right when he says he is a greedy boy with too many toys, his words not mine. Although in his defence, his requirements are somewhat different to most people's. What we have to remember is, that he holds kites not just for himself but also his wife and two sons. Then there are the more specialised Flying Squad kites Twisters, and printed Revs. If Rev made a bag big enough to take the Hoath's Revs, Stephen wouldn't be able to carry it. He has found the solution though, it's made from mild steel, pained metallic green and has a VW badge on the front. Back to the Rev bag and normal people's needs, as I said earlier kites wise I think they have got it about right, it's the other miscellaneous pockets that could benefit from a rethink. My bag is one of the older ones (I.e. pre outside pocket), and some of the mesh pockets are worn and torn. I have been thinking of taking them out and redesigning that part of my bag. The rips in the existing mesh pockets may well have been caused by me over stuffing them but with a good selection of kites, I don't think it unreasonable to carry a selection of line sets and maybe, 4 or 5 pairs of handles. And that is the way I had been thinking for my custom refit, maybe keep some of the general purpose pockets but remove others to make space for a Velcro in line caddy and some sort of inside fastening to accommodate handles and a grind stake.
portlandflyer
OK, you put my feet to the fire, so I'll suggest!! 1. - Make the extra frame pocket bigger! Most of us have several extra frames, but the pocket on the bag only holds 1-2 frames! A while back I got some parts from Rev and it was sent in a packing tube. I have put 3-4 frames in it and they sit in the largest kite sleeve with one kite. I also like the tube as it protects my extra frames. If the rod sleeve could accommodate at least that size tube, it would work for me!! As it is, that sleeve is pretty much useless for me to use! 2. - Buckles. I'd like to see the fasteners offset from the roll-up's edge! If you catch the material in the closure, then under weight, it will pop open unexpectedly! Moving the female ends of the buckles away from there,(maybe make that end of the strap a little longer), would easily eliminate the problem! I know a few folks that have used another strap to keep their bag closed if the buckle pops open while being carried! I try to make sure no bag material gets caught in the buckle to force it open! 3. - Maybe an option to get 2 straps. I talked with Watty once, and he used another strap on his bag to carry it like a backpack, instead of sideways over one shoulder! Carrying it backpack style leaves both hands free to use hauling other stuff, if need be! A bonus with that is that you can pull both straps around the bag and make a handle for short distance carrying! I'm currently using an extra strap from a bowling bag, clipped in to the same rings the Rev strap uses! It does work for me! Anyway my $0.02 worth!

As for the rod pocket, I keep my main rev indoor there, and my rods in one of the regular pockets. Another mod that I've done on my own bag is to add belt loops around the upper strap. The strap has an awful tenancy to come off over the top of the bag, so the belt looks keep it in place. Some wheels would also be nice. Maybe even a little remote control

kwmf
Perhaps I like to keep the sand out of my expensive (thanks to the exchange rate) gear looked after, perhaps I just have narrow beaches where the surf spray reaches everywhere, or perhaps I'm soft... I've just never liked the idea of a roll up bag since you have to open up everything to get something. My duffel bag takes nine 1.5s, one Zen, three B2, two indoor revs and two Blasts along with five handle sets, about eight line sets and a bag of spares, stakes, spare frames etc. It takes all that with room to spare and I'm still on the smallest compression. Everything is accessed by the main zip without exposing everything to the environment. Once I have what I want it's zipped closed and everything is safe. I have a few of these, another one carries my duals, singles and miscellaneous kites. I have a spare one that I can pick from the main bags and load if I want a smaller load. All very basic and simple, but works for me.

ragnarock47
I've used a ski bag for quite a while. They are pretty cheap at the end of ski season. They are nice to hold larger duals as you don't need to break down the leading edge spars.
