Moggy
When browsing the gallery I noticed a good few people have custom sails with their own designs or their Team's insignia on. Such as: http://www.revkites....7_601_38699.jpg http://www.revkites...._472_352988.jpg http://www.revkites....41_19_10239.jpg http://www.revkites....86_33_21415.jpg http://www.revkites...._318_171954.jpg ... and so forth. How do these work, do people make and rig these by themselves, or are they commissioned by artists to be made via RevKites.com (i.e. Bazzer)? What is the physical process used to create them? Are some printed on a full sail, or are they all hand sown and airbrushed like the Masterpieces? It's hard to discern the detail from afar. Just intrigued. jburka
The bulk of the sails in the photos you linked to are dye sublimation printed by the Gonzalez Brothers (also known as Los Hermanos) out of Spain under license from Rev. They have a number of stock designs (either their own or done in collaboration with others, such as Bai and Polo) but will also do custom sails if you provide the graphics. In the US, you'd contact Ben or Lolly to arrange something like that; I'm not sure about in Europe! Other kite makers will occasionally do one-off custom designs. I have one from Bazzer that was a commission from a friend of mine, who worked directly with Ben, who then had Bazzer make the kite. The printed sails fly very nicely, and are much cheaper than commissioning custom applique work.

Best regards, ~Mog This one: http://www.revkites.com/forum/uploads/1207587851/gallery_41_19_10239.jpg, I created back in 1996. I received from Revolution an all black REV 1.5 with black logo. I created and sewed the applique work myself. There is only one of these and I still have it. In that same time realm I created a number of REVs with applique work. I also created the art and design Golden Sunset Historical REV and the only blue version, that you don't show, which you can see here: http://johnnmitchell.com/IntSportKites/rev_history/anniversary.html A description of how they were made is also at that same URL. The others you show except for maybe the last are printed REVs which were printed and sewn by the Gonzalez brothers in Gandia, Spain. I don't know the source of the artwork. The next to the last one is one of the team kites from a team in The Netherlands. I am not sure how and where it was made.
Madquad
About these: A set of 10 kites. 5 x Full sail and 5 x Vented. The 4 Aces and the Joker. These kites were designed by the former Demo-Team Time Out from the Netherlands. Builded by Ruud de Haas and finished by Barry Poulter. I was the owner of the Ace of Spades

They are printed kites using a special technique that impregnates the ink into the material. You have choices either contact Los Hermanos direct for a complete custom job, go to Polo kites for one of his great designs or go to Bai Designs for the fist kite on your list. Alternatively, come down to Dunstable Downs one sunday for a fly and a close up look at some of these kites. Just let us know when you are coming so that we can make cake!
