Scott_of_melnsct
So for example, we're leaving for WSKIF on Wednesday, returning home the following Monday meaning Laurel will miss 4 days of school. I know it's worth it. You know it's worth it. The question is, how can we justify it to the school so they will accept those days as "excused" absences? At WSKIF there are whale bones and the world kite museum. What else? Anything that will work for all kite festivals?

If so, it's a cultural exchange, worked for us last year!
makatakam
Extended field trip sounds like a winner. Apart from the AE&D, how about the study of marine flora & fauna? (just stay away from the sharks & sea urchins)
dkovacs65
Field test #1: Have her take a break from flying each day at a set time (say 1:00pm - 1:30) to measure the tides - to determine if there is a correlation between the average distance the waves come up on shore to the total amount of sail area being flown in area C at the start of the set time period. Field Test #2: At the single line kite area - calculate the total length of line used each day and see how many of that total length it would take to reach to the moon. Field Test #3: How many surface grains of sand in a square inch - a square foot - Area C - Long Beach field Test #4: go fly a kite - enjoy being on the beach - be the caller in a mega fly (easy on the Pez) - get your feet wet - BE A KID!
