Cheers Chris.

Hope all OK with You & Yours. Hope to see you later in the year... trip to Portsmouth perhaps ?

Was going to try to make Basingstoke again, however I have aother commitment that Weekend now.

Unless something drastic happens Portsmouth is a go.

Ps, hope Weymouth went well for you. I spent the Royal Wedding hours flying in a park near Birmigham. Did my first fairly convincing Bicycle turns.

The sarnies are made, the kites are ready and a few of the Exmouth Kiters will be heading north.

Most just looking for the Sun / Mon but we will be there Sat for the beach fly.

Hope to see as many as possible.

Regards,

Mark

Yes, but having trouble booking accomodation - currently trying to borrow a tent

Hoping to make a late Saturday pm beach fly and a full Sunday.

A borrowed tent that last saw action at Glastonbury, rain forecast, and a Dorset hillside... what could possibly go wrong? : )

Not the best of Fest's.

Someone ordered a big box of wind without looking at the contents!

Very strong winds and a few showers, very heavy on Monday.

As usual the Flying Squad made it look easy.

In fact it was great to see the super vented in the air, will it be available to the general populace soon?

Thanks to all the Pilots who took part.

Still a great weekend and looking forward to Swindon next week.

Regards,

Mark

If you are referring to the Revolution XTRA vent, it has been available for several months.

There is one or more threads on this forum concerning it including pictures.

No TFS were running with ordinary vents that had been t-bagged

An easterly breeze at Weymouth would be 'onshore' or thereabouts rather than 'over the houses'. I guess that White Nothe/Ringstead Bay are far away enough for the bumps to be smoothed out.

Whilst the wind was technically on-shore, the arena had been relocated to the end of the beach tucked up behind the see wall and in the lee of the Ferry Port and tall hotels. We knew the wind was bad and that the vents were smooting it out but didn't know how much until we tried to fly a standard kite and had then changing directions all over the place!

The vents are TFS Customs, it's a relatively simple job. Buy a new Baressi full vent then burn hundreds of holes in it all across the sail. Try not to cry too much when you make the first hole. It gets easier after that.

They perform really well but with a slightly smaller window than normal. We got these just before the official mega vents were available so that's why we went down this road.

So unless you enjoy mutilating new kites, do yourself a favour and buy the Mega vent from Rev!

<snip>

That last corner of the beach would be the worst possible place to attempt to fly IMHO (whichever direction the wind was coming from...)
