I might manage to travel over for most of it (all of 10 minutes) but I expect I will find some way to miss any megafly ... would hate you lot not to have something to take the P**s out of me about<snip>

http://www.portsmouthkitefestival.org.uk/whatson.html gives 4:00pm/16:00 on both days for 15 minutes of Mega Team!

Nice work Felix!

Oh and the Suns out already down here .... Just saying!

Steadily brightening here too.

11:30, 13:00 and 15:45 are the Decs/TFS arena times.

There should be plenty of time in the dedicated space for grid work if anyone is interested! We must make sure that the space is fully utilised...

Thank you sooooooo much for taking the pics of the REVosaurus, and for the mega fly video.I was praying for the right wind direction as soon as I saw the dinosaur on the news,as I knew my rev eyes would look so good sitting on its nose, sorry I had to interupt the flying squads practice, but I could not resist.

Another excellent Rev fest at Portsmouth. Many thanks to John and Gill from the Kite Society for dedicating a field for the Rev frolics. It enabled the many Rev fliers to fly and combine into teams safely. The mega flys would not have been possible without that space to rehearse the grid.

Thanks for the video Ant. The 30 grid on Saturday was superb considering the strong bumpy wind and the 25 on Sunday was a credit to all who were willing to give it a go in even stronger and bumpier winds! It was their first grid fly for quite a few and Roy/Fungus I'm glad you took the leap with my son Mark's kite and got stuck in. Your big daft grin afterwards was a joy to see :)

Sorry I had to duck out with out a fly this morning - hope you had fun.

I have to add my big thanks to Felix for asking for the Rev area and John and Gill for letting us have one - I hope we made it worth the effort! It certainly looked like we drew a lot of audience and quite a few fliers made a special effort coming down to Portsmouth because they knew we would have a separate arena. It was certainly the best festival I've been to, by far. Let's hope Portsmouth makes this a permanent feature! Also, the difference from the other years was that this time all the arenas stayed up and marked all the way through Monday - it gave us all a chance to fly undisturbed for an additional day and have lots of fun socialising, learning, teaching and just having fun. I was really happy to meet so many new people, put names to faces etc. And as for the grid, I would say that was the most organised grid I've ever flown in. It was put together quickly and efficiently, the flying was nice and neat (for most part!) and the public seemed to really enjoy it. Great job, everyone :) See you next year!

I've just realised the audio is messed up on the video - after spending ages tweaking the dubs into place, the second track got bumped right into the first just before I did the final render :(

I'll try and sort that out and upload a new copy...

Hi Yrna,,

The arenas were set up on Saturday morning between 9 and 10am.

When we arrived on Sunday morning some of the tapes and stakes for the Rev arena were down.

We re-set as well as we could and everything was still in place on Monday morning.

Seems like Saturday night may be the source of the problem <grins>

I, in turn, have to thank everyone for turning up and using the Rev Arena. It seems that we created a virtuous circle which led, maybe in part, to the 'Kite Flier of the Festival Award' (in memory of Herman van den Broek) being presented to me at the end of Sunday afternoon.

Please see the other thread about Margate 2010 and let us know if there is sufficient interest for a Rev Arena there as well.

Thanks again.

Felix
