  1. Surely it must be time for a trip downunder.

    Todays weather forecast is,

"Forecast for the rest of Tuesday

Local early fog, then a mostly sunny morning. Partly cloudy this afternoon and evening with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible about the outer northern and eastern suburbs. Winds tending northerly up to 20 km/h this morning, then seabreezes up to 25km/h developing late afternoon and evening.

City, Early fog patches. Partly cloudy. Max35C"

  2. I'm in Australia from 12th Feb - 12th March ... Sydney and Jervis Bay, mostly and wondered if theres anybody around if I bring my Rev Bag ..... either that or recommendations for places to fly?

Trip is a present for the wife's 40th so I should have enough points in the bag to be allowed out to play wink.gif

I am also a too far away to meet up with you. A suggestion would be to post a message on this Australlian Forum, "http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/". Hope you can find someone to fly with, and more importantly, thoroughly enjoy your trip downunder.

  3. Thanks Alex- I love it here. This is my second trip to Melbourne. Hoping it becomes an annual deal. It would be better during the summer, perhaps, but I love winter in Melbourne. Beats summer in Texas!

Any place to buy a Rev in Melbourne?

    -Ben

The only place I know, is Kitepower in Geelong, if they have any stock. I have found it better to buy direct from USA, (A Wind Of Change or Kite Connection). I would recommend buying a travel frame which allows the kite to be folded into a much smaller bundle.

  4. Any Rev pilots in Melbourne? I made the trip down under and didn't bring a Rev (was trying to get a Rev II that would fit into my luggage, couldn't get hold of one before I left Texas for Australia. :( ) Bad on me.

    -Ben

Welcome to Melbourne, hope you enjoy your stay downunder.

I only have Rev 1.5's, a 20th Anniversary and a standard with a changed frame.

  5. Hi all, I am looking to buy another Rev Kite, but my funds are somewhat limited at the moment so i thought i'd ask you guys (n Girls) if anyone in the UK has any kites they may wish to part with. Any Rev's sitting lost and forlorn under the stairs etc.

Not looking for Blast / Supersonic shape, more towards the standard shape, preferably complete and RTF.

This may be worth looking at:

    Hope it helps!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I also think it would be more beneficial to the kiting community if the videos were put up on Youtube or downloadable from the Rev website instead of only being available to Kitelife subscribers. I know of a ton of people here in our group that fly Rev's constantly that aren't subscribers.

    Well said, Kent.

As I said previously, I am a "lone" flyer from downunder and see no advantage to be a Kitelife subscriber.

  7. Being in Austraila and when I started flying the rev. I had no one else at all to fall back on to teach me to fly (thats why I am still not that good).

I support Spotter 100%. Flying alone produces a very slow learning curve. More easily accessible help would be very much appreciated.

I am not a member of Kitelife, any tutorials should be available via this forum.

  8. OK, these guys go back a few years, and Aus is a BIG country...

What about Curleys kites up in Cairns have your heard of that?

So do you fly alone in Adelaide? or are there other Rev flyers?

Simon, I live in Melbourne and will be travelling to Adelaide for the Kite Festival.

When I do fly, I fly alone, hence the learning curve has been very slow. I have been to Cairns, but that was before I took up kite flying. As you said, Australia is a big country, about 4000km between Melbourne and Cairns.

  9. Hi Alex, no malice intended.

BTW whats the Rev scene like in Aus these days?

Do you remember a team called Vertigo? Guy called Michael Richards had a shop up on Coogee Beach really nice guy he and his team came for a sleepover at my place just before World Cup a few years back, Greg Franz came back a little while back - the team had disbanded, was wondering if any of theese guys still fly.

No malice taken, all done in fun.

There are a number of Rev flyers scattered far and wide, but we may get a few in Adelaide next week, as Ben will be over here to join in the activities at the Adelaide Kite Festival.

I don't know of any of very many flyers, never heard of the guys you mentioned. There are only two or three shops which carry a very limited number of Rev kites, in fact I think they almost import to customer requirements.

  10. I'm gearing up for Australia and I just can't wait, kites, buggies, women, friends, and Family ohhhhh myyyyy...

    I just can't wait and I'll take lots of pictures......Ben B) B)

...............and we are really looking forward to seeing and meeting you, here downunder. Have a safe flight. I am sure you will enjoy every moment.
