  3. I used EVA Foam grips from a fishing supply store on my Ti handles. I've tidied them up since and made better pigtails.
  4. I've got visible variance on most of my handles too. With 8 or 10 sets, I mix and match them to be sort of close. This could easily be remedied by having a hole on the workbench slightly larger than the diameter of the handle with a set depth. 1. apply adhesive 2. slide foam grip over handle 3. push end of handle into the alignment hole until the end of the handle touches the bottom of the alignment hole 4. the top of the foam grip will always be the same distance from the end of the handle
  5. I love Race Rods (bought 3 sets so far), but I prefer to use them at the lighter end of the wind range. They might be able to survive quite a bit more wind, but how many times do you want to take a chance? If there's enough wind that the Race Rods are deflecting a lot, there is plenty of wind for 3 Wrap ULs or even 4 Wrap Equipped.

    So...

I neglected to mention the Portsmouth 2008 International Kite Rev Festival DVD that was waiting for me in my mailbox on Christmas Day. A big thank you! to Choccy and Groz!
  7. What lovely surprise to find this DVD in my mailbox in time for Christmas! Top marks for the video photography, editing and music choices! This is a DVD that I'll watch again and again; it's superb! Thank you Choccy and Groz!!!

    So...

Not here yet, but a set of Bazzer B-Series are on the way.
  10. Stay warm, mouseio! This Winter can't last forever. It will make 'beach time' in a warm breeze seem all the better. I heard that this will be the first time in nearly 50 years that all Canada will have a White Christmas.
  11. On January 1, 2008 I decided to keep track of how many days that I flew in the coming year. I'd hoped to get over 100 flying days, but I did much better than that- so far, I'm at 212. I've flown Revs since the early '90s, but was mostly a dual line flier until this year. I started hanging out with the fliers down at Clover Point, Victoria and really enjoyed flying with other people. It wasn't long after flying Terry's B-Series that I decided to upgrade from my SLEs and I haven't looked back. I've bought 5 B-Series and have 3 of Bazzer's Pros on the way. A big thanks to Steve De Rooy, Ben and of course, Bazzer for making it all possible. I'm not going to dwell on the lows; I prefer to look upwards.
  12. It's not rocket science, it's a few knots in 4 lengths of string. There is no magic or right setting that works for everyone in every wind on every kite. Just experiment: go a knot one way... better or worse? If it's better, try another knot in the same direction. Better or worse? Once it's worse, go the other way. Keep experimenting until you find a combination that works for you.
  13. need JB & iQuad in there somewhere

    Snow

The snow was over my knees, but light and powdery. It wasn't that cold, just below freezing, though the wind in the high teens was a little chilly if you weren't dressed for it. It was just so nice to fly on that field without picking up a couple of kilos of goose poop on your shoes and kite gear for a change!

    Snow

I wish I was better at one-handed flying, but try as I might, I can't do a tip drag and take a picture at the same time. Those roostertails of powder snow kicking up behind the Rev looked beautiful in the clear sunshine. It was a real treat to get out of the house and fly again.

    Snow

It was a beautiful day today! Sure, there was an hour to dig my car out, but a fine breeze off the water and best of all, no goose poop on the field! I had a great time doing tip drags in the powder snow, with roostertails of snow flying up behind. So much fun!!!!
  17. The fist thing that I do when I buy new Rev handles (and I've got 10 or 12 pairs) is take the stock pigtails off and add new, longer ones. Mine don't have as many knots though; usually just 3 on the top, spaced about an inch apart and 3 on the bottom, spaced closer together for fine tuning.
  18. That's what I've been doing too. This set will put me at 8 B-Series that I've bought, but the older ones are finding new homes. I might keep of the non-Pros (B-Series Amateurs?!?!) as a 3 stack, though.
  19. ^they had really good spacing in that pic.
