Hello Steve
Sorry about the rod breaking, but its the same for us all.Ive slammed stuff and though,HO SH...Thats smashed.Only to find it ok.Cant remember the last time i broke a rod,but it happens and its painfull.Usually happens when your outa ya comfort zone, pushing the boundries or trying new stuff in perhaps less than ideal conditions. With perhaps the wrong set up of kit.
Longer lines would give a little more reaction time.Shorter the lines.Faster the kite, less time to react.A vented would obviously level the gust.Rather than a full sail.Which will catch the full gust.
The spars are strong, but not indistructable.Looks like a pritty streight forward break tome from ya photo. Its a bummer just the same.I hope you have better winds soon.
Keep the faith and keep practicing.Dont let it putcha off.

Great colors BAZ.
We flew yetserday with sedgwicks[rev 1s] for most of the morning. The wind was a beech wind, but blew ZIP,ZERO,through to 3mph at best.
Three pilots.All with same kite,BUT
I was perhaps the most experienced and had Race Frame. The other lads had Ul rods. One hates the sedgwick. The other Loves it.I ADORE mine
The point
Kev who hated the sedgwick[noted Hated].After two hours of sold HARD WORK,flying, gaining ground, keeping tension and basically learning how to fly in low wind with the kite.Left with a proper BDG,
Myself and Kev swopped kites. He said he couldnt maintain a hover or fall with the conrol and at the pace i was setting with my KITE[which was painfully slow he was to fast]].I didnt for a moment think it was the kite, but the pilots experience at work.We swopped and Kev handled the moves and control much, much better.BUT,i still set the pace exactly the same, with the same control, but with his kite that couldnt doit earlier.I hadnt changed a thing.
Take what you will from that.I hope its the word EXPERIENCE.Kevs a top pilot btw.
For me its simple. The ZEN has tobe some kite to BETTER the Sedgwick. For me ,low wind flying is what usually sorts the wheat from the chaff or the experienced good pilots from the real gifted, dedicated pilots. After flying the sedgwick yesterday and having a ball with it.I have to ask. What does the ZEN then give me.That the sedgwick doesnt .
Well,i beleive from what ive read.Thers isnt a bucket full of diffrence that all will notice.Infact.I beleive most wont get it because they just dont yet get or have the experience [yet]required and thats wher the ZEN sits for me.It kicks on from the Sedgwick in experienced hands and helps less experienced pilots find a real ZEN MOMENT.I cant now wait ti fly one, because low wind flying is way kewl when you get it.The ZEN for me will just give that little extra in its design and development.that will make the diffrence.
Just my 2penth

We're flying into Seattle (SeaTac) which is about 120 miles from Long Beach. (I think?)
Not sure if it is the best but it is the way we went on previous occasions!

I was thinking about a feathered theme for a print. Not unlike my Wings Masterpiece or an RAF Spitfire look.
The problem is,if it only came in black[lets say].Then thats the choice.Thers so much these guys can do.Thers nearly to much choice. If ya see what i mean.
Putting a deal on a limited edition run is kewl and gives you some great options FREE.Along with a superb deal and helping make your mind up.
Without flying the kite at the weekend.I personally wouldnt have considered one,but they fly reallllyyyy nice.
A chance to paint/create and then fly your own Masterpiece at a very reasonable cost

Waw Simon,a Mum & Dads worries can be a test.
Get well soon Luca.
Thers always a brightside though to an Athletes injurys.
When i broke my shoulder[colar bone].The rest of the Rugby team ran streight over the top ame and put six luvly stitches in my jaw, brused my ribs.Left me unconcious.
We had only been playing a few minutes.
Then we lost the match and our coach brokedown on the cold pennines,on the way home[i was waiting for x rays in BRADFORD,,,,,,,ARGH.
Whers the brightside ,,,,well
i made loadsa freinds[mainly LADIES ] while in Hospital, ate lodsa ice cream,Watched tele all day long[scoobie doo was big then]and unfortunetly, had nine weeks off school.....
Stay Kewl, get well soon and home safe and sound.

Hey Vince,
What was the fellas name flying the Prog Stack[r,w,blue]
What a BDG he had.Once i swopped his lines over and explained about leaders and how they worked. The kite was almost incontrolable when i tried it.No Brake at all.Swopped stuff about which made a massive diffrence for him.He had gone home to make some leaders and return Sunday to give it a spin, but the wind i think put him off.He was ther, but i didnt see him fly it.Nice fella]Bob i think]
He said his lines had over five inch diffrence in lengths, when he checked them

Took a while to bridle, the spars wher tricky to fix and launching. It near resembled Hinbenburg at one point.
Wind Speed
ZERO-gusting to zero point one
Flew with grace, loads of drive.Very manuverable.Hovers in no winds, clock turns are doable.
Thanks for your concern Felix, but you should know better by now my freind.Im 110% a rev man,but i do luv a leg puller

So what did you think of the printed revs ?
we did Have a great time ( you was lucky in the quiz)
Champioooooonis,Champioooooooonis,Hooooray,Hoooray,Hoooray
I never thought having Susan n Stephen would end up with us being handicapped.Beating a full FSquad team with only three men in our team.Made it sweeter though.... .Once Stephen and Susan retiered ther help.Due to a conflict of intrests.I thought we may struggle.I dont think anyone got The Lomas question.I think The Hoaths played fair on that one.We rose to the challenge, myself,Dave B and Bob.The Blackbird picture, i couldnt beleive anyone got that,,,,Bravo Gary.Ive had one and still have one,but didnt get it.Helen hoause was the killer. Her name was on everyones Tongue,.The sickner was the EOs[expandable Object].I think myself and Dave have severn or eight between us and went for Skunks fry up.
Anyways its the taking part that counts,,,,,,,,,Like it is.
Champiooooonis,Champioooooonis .Hard luck guys.We decided to give the winnings[a large Tin of Chocolates] to a very, very good cause.Im sure you will agree.Keeping The young Hoaths quiet on the trip home with Mum Susan and Dad Stephen, was a splendid thought.
The printed Revs.Seem quite a good buy atm.The deal thats on them is kewl. The Euro is struggling against the £££.The chance to have a realy individual kite or set of kites for a team is a great prospect.
The kite i thought was a definate improvement in the wind conditions from my std B.Would have liked longer on it and then give a Zen a spin in team.I think you also had that idea Gary, along with some others.
I liked it,i have to say.Very clean and smooth.Drive was an improvment also.Enjoyed the chance to try them.Without that.I would not have considered one.Now i probably will go buy one or we may even use them for team stuff,if we think of a theme to print on them and then raise the funds.Stephen and Susan are great judges and pilots.Ther enthusiasum for them says alot. The Zen for now has missed the Boat for me im afraid.I wont buy one until ive tried one or Bazz turns up with his at Ainsdale and we have the conditions.
weve had no first hand evidence its a low wind improvment on a SUL or Sedgwick we have been useing. The printed Revs i think just may fill that space.
We watched intently when you guys gave them a spin. The patern wouldnt be my choice, but the kite seemed well equipped to handle the very low wind.Once flown well.
Whats your take on the Printed ones Gary,Hezz.
The printed Revs i beleive will use Race Frames i have and dont require a New fangled frame.Again, more cost effective. Cost and deal is very in the printeds favour......we shall see.
I have to say also.
Ive flown a Homemade QUAD,That out performed everything i flew at the weekend, in low and zero winds.Which is frightening. Also quite Taboo on here, but true.

Mondays trip to see the Chemist ended up with me having another two weeks of the 21mg patch. They recommend a minimum of six weeks at this level.Ive been on them for three now.The machine was A OK with my Toxins.5weeks and jobs a goodn.
In summary. All is well and we are good.Next visit is in two weeks.
Hard over the weekend at the Rev weekend.A meal ,A beer, and fag would have been perfect,i did miss a sociable smoke with the few smokers that are still puffing.Having a fly and then breaking for a coffee is also sociable, again a fag would lend itself well.I looked forward to a brew and a smoke.Driving near four hundred miles,i could have passed some of the time smoking.Kev was a gent and i think smoked two all weekend in my presence. So hes also getting the benefit.
Dazz, dont give up,giving them up.Refocus and start again pal

Seems everyone got home ok then.
Also forgot to mention about the Printed Revs.Had a quick go on one in very low winds[0-3mph].Thanks to Stephen & Susan for the use of them.
Tried my pro series streight after[sul].Would have been nice then to give a Zen a spin, but still ther isnt a UK pilot that can conpare or give a qualified take on the kite.As ther still arent any to try.
The two biggest gatherings of Quad pilots ever in the North of England and the Zens is missing,,,,,,,Exclusive or Illusive.I heard many comments on this theme.,
May not be a case of when the boat comes in now.I watched the likely Lads anyways.

Hope evryone arrived home safe and sound like we did.
Had a smashing weekend, yeh the wind could have been better, yeh the wind could have been smoother. The company and people wher what it was all about.
Thanks everyone for your Company. The hospitality was great.
MY Personal Highs, seeing some old freinds and great people again after a while and just chatting n flying.
,Watching the BDGs on peoples faces.
,Flying with everyone, especially Felix and Ashley, watching and trying the new stance and flying technichs. They seem to do so well.
,Raising a small fortune for Haiti, from such a generous group who just keep giving in lots of ways and are a pleasure to call freinds.
.flying the 10 grid,,,,,
Main personal Highlight,
,Pauls face and the Lady on Hotel reception when he was checking out, He rereached for his wallet and produced a very large croissant.Hidden in his hood. From from Breakfast. The receptionist then asked what was the bottle in his pocket and he produced a full size bottle of HP Sauce///////////absolute classic stitch up.Msde our day.Got even better when he then froduce a very fancy salt and Pepper set from the restraunt out of another pocket......near wet myself laughing at ther reactions. The reception wher in on the prank, but Paul was stitched proper.
.Not only winning the quiz[myself,Bob and Dave B],but we beet the flying squad.
, Having sore Ribs from Laughing and flying with my freinds.
Thanks all the N/East Ladys and gents for such great hospitality.Bravo Vince,Chris,Pete and Pete S for such a great weekend and a few moments that will hang in my gallery.
Thaks all

Having the 3wrap and Race.Would realy cover the full wind window.Race Rod from low to say 14mph.Then double the leading edge for above that wind.
Four Wrap would probably be a better option, but i wouldnt mind as long as the Race Rods wher in ther.
