Hi,

I'm new to rev's but have been kitesurfing for a few years now mostly with depowerable foil kites. Anyway I just got my first rev - a powerblast 4->8. Does anybody know if it is possible to stack these kites?

Thanks,

Now that I have 2 revs, I can't help but think about stacking them. But I have a few questions I'm not sure about.

- I have a standard and full vent b-series. Are these OK to stack? If so, I presume I put the vented in front? If I can't stack these 2, the rest of the questions become redundant for now.

- My frames are 2 wrap, 3 wrap (2 sets), 4 wrap. Can I make a usable combination?

- Will my 80ft x 90# lines be ok? My only other linesets are 50# (50ft and 30ft) so I presume these are no good.

- How much wind do I need to fly them stacked? Will they fly in the same wind that will get my standard sail up? Or do they need as much as the vented needs?

Any other useful tips for a beginner would be appreciated :-)

Thanks

Please excuse my blatant lack of knowledge, as I have just recently become addicted to Revolution Kites.

I have already collected three Rev's, and I would like to experiment with a mini stack of dual EXP's. I have absolutely no knowledge of how to approach stacking Rev's, and I was hoping to ask the experts on how to do this properly.

- Are stacking lines available for purchase, or do these line need to be fabricated by the individual flyer?

- What other considerations should be included in stacking Rev's (stronger flight lines, longer flight lines, etc)?

- Do certain Rev's perform better in a stacked configuration?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks from a newbie.

I just joined the Rev forum and I noticed a lot of posts about stacking Revs with OTHER kites (as well as other Revs). I have become quite good at this. I wish I could keep buying Revs, but I have a mortgage and a family with teenagers. So, wanting more power, I decided to try stacking other kites with my Rev. (quad kites, of course) Must worked just fine. A foil behind a Rev is quite a rush. I tried converting some delta 2 liners as well and a BUNCH of them worked out pretty well. Let me know if anybody wants to try this. It is quite the rush of quad power.

5 and 6 stack

I did a 6 stack today but felt more comfortable with the 5 stack.

During the first attempt I used the standard 13" Rev handles.

Today I used the extended 15" versions handles which gave me more overall controle.

I fly with 6 stack lines.

I'm putting a stack together and I'm seeking some advice on frames. The kite order from front to back will be; Polo VTD, Vtd, Mid, Std and Std. I'm going to use link lines with the pig tails at the connection points. The frames I want to use are 4, 3, 3, 3, 2. I have considered having a 4 wrap frame in the lead kite and putting a 2 in the LE and have the rest as 3's. I have flown the combo of 4, 3, 3, 2 in 15-20km/h without the Polo and that was a work out. I know Kent's 8-Stack are all Std's and they have real heavy frames.

Would a stack of progressively vented sails produce less sail presure to be able to use this combination?

Can I get away just doubling up of the LE or do the verts need to be heavier as well?

Got some Pro-no-snags from AWOC and as an order filler, got a stacking kit for 2 kites thinking if I didn't like stacking, I could use the lines as pig tails....

After work on Friday, I pulled out my EXP & SLE and put 3 wrap frames in both. Made the EXP the front then set about putting the stacking lines on both. Still not 100% sure about the centre (white) line. Took them across the road to the park at Saturday lunchtime and set up. Took out some brake. Final checks then.... Up up and away!

I thought one Rev was awesome let alone two. The wind was variable 14km/h (9mph) but even at that I had arms out a fair bit of the time. I'm glad I had the whole park to myself as I could swing them around to my hearts content.

An hour just flew by and I was having a great time. I'm looking forward to some decent wind on Monday to really have a spin. Might even put them on my 120's. A whole new world of Revs has just opened up to me and I couldn't be happier.

There is probably no simple answer...

How does Stacking Rev's affect their min/max wind?

I have been playing around with combinations of my VTD, MID and STD B series.

In a few winds I have felt it was getting a bit light for the VTD at the front.

And a couple of times it felt like it was getting too strong for the STD at the back.

I dont have enough kites to do a stack of all the same type.

But I am interested in finding out about them too.

So what are your stack experiences?

What stack physics can you share?

Hi there

I'm going to be making some stack lines shortly and that got me to wondering ...

Is the stack line in the middle of the leading edge actually needed/relevant, and if so, what is it's function?

I've only flown a stack briefly, so I don't have an in depth knowledge of their mechanics so I'm looking for input here.

Just thinking about the mechanics of the setup and this is where I'm at...

The stack lines on the verticals (top and bottom) I understand are critical for control.

The outer leading edge links would be both for control (although to a lesser extent than on the vertical ones) as well as keeping the trailing kites from twisting/rotating relevant to each other too much

The one in the middle is where my brain isn't getting it...

When a Rev cups the wind the curve in the leading edge would induce slack in that link would it not thereby rendering that line ineffective?

At any point in the stack, the kite closer to the front will be taking more strain than the kite to the rear of it, so the front kite will always have more leading edge curvature than the one behind ... so that center line would go from slack to tight as you progress from the front to the rear of the stack.

I'm not sure what I am missing, but I just can't figure out that lines purpose ... hopefully someone can fill me in.

BTW I am not trying to save a buck by not making a center line, just trying to understand the mechanics.
