West Australian
Hi All, My Rev's were all Pretty when they were stored away, but since getting them out and actually flying them, they are getting a bit dirty. I have grass stains on the White centre panel and some generic grime in spots. What is the best way to get my Kites Looking cleaner?
0 johnnmitchell
I use dish detergent and water, nothing else. If that does not do the job I leave as I don't want to damage the material with harsher cleaning agents or solvents.
0 portlandflyer
This may sound a bit kinky - but I take mine into the shower!! Most of the dirt will fall off and you can dry it there! Light brushing should remove most grass stains, I've never tried anything harsher than just water!
0 KiteLife
I use these stages... Basic rinse, using the palm of my hand or a soft cloth under light-medium pressure warm water. If still funky - do same as above, but use a very, very mild soap of some kind and be sure to rinse thoroughly. With tough stains on white (often caused by storing your sail wet), try this worst-case tip I got from Bazzer himself: Fold a paper towel several times to make an absorbant mat, lay it on a stable and mess-safe surface table Lay the affected area of the sail flat over it, with the kite mostly supported. Fold another paper towel similarly, and apply a small amount of de-natured alcohol to it. Do a small amount of gentle buffing on the stain, circular, side to side and up and down motions. Flip the sail over and do the same on the other side, again gently and not too much. ** Ideally, your stain will be gone by now but if not, you have to consider sail coating abrasion versus aesthetics, make your choice accordingly. 0 West Australian
Thanks Guys, I will Try Warm Water First, and move up to Mild Soap if required. It is not so much the aesthetics as knowing how Dirt/Grime can be a risk to most fabrics.
0 KiteLife
Also, it's not good to ride it hard and put it away wet... Be sure your sail is totally dry before rolling, some colors (like red) can bleed onto lighter panels, and mildew can also form. Best to air dry. 0 West Australian
Very true, I always dry out first. Easy to dry out at the moment in Oz Summer. 39 degC out there right now (102 deg F)
