Wow, I knew all that geometry in grade 10 was eventually going to be good for something!

Thanks Dave. You're a one great guy!

Thanks to everyone else as well. Today the temp actually was bearable. For most of the month it has been sitting at a -40 wind chill so I have a use for the sweater to be sure!

BTW, if no one has noticed, the machine used is a Brother PR620. I have searched for a online vendor that would list a price for it. haven't found one yet. It must be a EXPENSIVE machine, if ya gotta ask what the price is.............ya can't afford it..... ;)

Searched Brother PR620 on ebay for fun and came up with one "almost new" $5,795.00

I have decided to turn my winter blues into some winter garments.

Ron,

Neat graphic.

The machine in the video doesn't look like my hand-me-down Kenmore ... doesn't even look like my wife's new sewing/embroidering machine. Are you doing the embroidering for fun or to add to your offerings?

I've got a friend who made a pattern of the IKE emblem for my wife's machine. Found out how much work is involved in producing that type of pattern ... 23,000 stitches and a little over an hour on the home machine. Geez.

Cheers,

Tom

Tiz a cool vid. Shows how much thread and work gos into it. Imagine trying to do that by hand.

I would agree on how much time it can take to digitize some of the

embroidery files. Even if I get decent artwork beforehand it is still

very time consuming to get a professional result.

I spent 4.5 hours doing the Tennessee Wind Militia flyers logo last week.

I find that the automated digitizing part of most embroidery programs

are close to useless so I do it manually.

I done a few caps for Portsmouth last year with the Anniversary

Rev but mine stitch out on a cylindrical cap frame (£900 GBP)

that moves the cap in and out and rotates it instead of trying to

make the cap flat to hoop it.

Just finishing Bartmans sweatshirt from the how many stitches quiz

later today. (Will post a few pics when done)

With all the doom and gloom on the news lately I feel another quiz

coming shortly. :blue-grin:

regards

Dave M :)

Glad you liked it. The machine being used is a commercial embroidery machine. It was actually running at a slower speed in the video. My company offers many different types of signage including screen printing as well as embroidery. It started out as fun but I've made a few hoodies and hats for some local flyers.

Ciao Ron

Is there some way we can see some samples and prices of your work dave?

Hi Jeremy,

I will upload some samples of work to my Flickr account over the next

couple of days.

With embroidery, pricing usually consists of a one off setup charge to

digitize the original artwork and then an embroidering charge per every

1000 stitches thereafter, plus the garment.

With Revs I have digitized most for myself so there is no setup charges.

I will work out a few examples of prices for finished garments as well.

Regards

Dave :)
