About Me
Dayhiker? It's kind of an inside joke related to my backpacking exploits. Over many years I have evolved into an ultralight backpacker & my equipment is so small, light & minimal that I actually use a day pack for multi-day trips. Other hikers think I'm a dayhiker. Ultralight is generally defined as pack weight of under ten pounds total. This does not include food or water. My summer pack usually weighs in the six pound range & can go into super ultralight, under five, if I get really serious. Grams count just like in kites. I have done full on winter camping in the thirteen pound range. Tents? too heavy. Stove? who needs one. And so goes the eccentric behavior.
